Bhimthadi Jatra has come a long way in the past 12 years, and this year, as we celebrate our Christmas Edition on the 22nd- 25th December 2017. Do join us in making this an event to remember. We care about our cultural and economic environment. Here are our goals this year. Help us achieve them by supporting our cause - 1.To educate women about food processing, medicinal herbs & plants, and organic farming. 2.To spread awareness among women about healthcare. 3.To expose women to various initiatives by women at the national and international levels for their all-round development. 4.To help women to be self employed. 5.To explore cultural facets of a woman. 6.To undertake study tours. 7.To provide the urban and sub urban market for the goods produced by women.
For the first time since its inception in 2006, a fashion component will be added to this year’s Bhimthadi Jatra, the annual rural fair.A glam quotient in the form of Bhimthadi Select will be added to the Jatra, which is mainly known for its lip-smacking food, flea market and variety of local handicrafts from artisans and is essentially very rural in nature.
The ‘Select’ is a special section of 20 stalls, comprising of artisans, craftsmen and designers working in the field of reviving and sustaining traditional handloom and handicrafts. This segment will be curated by Pallavi Datta.
Established in 2006 by the Agricultural Development Trust, the Jatra also has a section for local wholesome cuisine from all over Maharashtra. There will also be a ‘petting zoo’ for children and their parents, live shows and a flea market. The Raghu Dixit Project will also perform at the event, taking the stage on December 23 at 7 pm.
