A Dr. Kaustubh Prabhune Initiative

Dr. Kaustubh Prabhune is a well-trained Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon with more than 20 years experience in the field.

Presently, he is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Jehangir Hospital and Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune. After his graduation in medicine (MBBS), he has completed residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery leading to M.S. (Master of Surgery) and M.Ch. (Master of Chirurgie) degrees from the University of Bombay, India in years 1992 and 1996 respectively.

He has worked in the department of general surgery and department of plastic and reconstructive surgery of several reputed hospitals in Bombay such as LTMG Hospital, Nair Hospital, Tata Memorial Hospital and Jaslok Hospital in various capacities such as resident, clinical fellow, research fellow and senior clinical assistant. Later, he worked as a Fellow in the Division of Plastic Surgery of the University of Louisville, USA from November 1998 to July 2000.

Dr. Prabhune joined Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery and University of Louisville, USA as a Fellow in hand and microsurgery in August 2000 and worked there till April 2002. Kleinert Institute is renowned for their pioneering work in the field of hand and microsurgery. He had a medical licensure in the states of Kentucky and Indiana (USA) during this period. Dr. Prabhune was part of the surgical team that performed the second hand transplant in the USA in February 2001. He gained extensive experience in Cosmetic Surgery at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, USA during his stay in the USA. He gained valuable insight in cosmetic surgery by working with several reputed Plastic Surgeons.
