Did you know? Eye transplantation does NOT mean replacing the entire eye. 👁️

In corneal transplantation (eye transplant), only the damaged cornea — the transparent front layer of the eye — can be replaced. The whole eye cannot be transplanted because the optic nerve connecting the eye to the brain cannot be restored.

People with corneal blindness may benefit from corneal transplant surgery, but vision loss caused by retinal or optic nerve diseases cannot be treated with eye transplantation.

One of the biggest myths in eye care is that “eye transplant” means replacing the whole eyeball. But that’s not how it works.

In reality, an eye transplant usually refers to a corneal transplant — a procedure where the damaged cornea (the clear front layer of the eye) is replaced with a healthy donor cornea.

Watch till the end to understand the difference between corneal blindness and other causes of vision loss.

“Will I need maintenance after eye surgery?” 👀

Short answer: No.

✔️ Next-day check-up to ensure proper healing
✔️ Follow-up after 15 days for vision check & prescription

That’s it. No regular maintenance sessions, no long-term hassle.

Athletes usually shouldn’t go for traditional LASIK ❌
Why? Because it involves creating a corneal flap — and in high-impact sports, even a small trauma can cause flap-related issues

That’s why we often prefer SMILE (flapless LASIK) ✅
✔ No flap
✔ Minimally invasive
✔ Faster recovery
✔ Perfect for active lifestyles

But remember — there’s no “one best surgery” for everyone ⚠️
It all depends on YOUR sport, lifestyle, and eye condition
