Which eye diseases are silent or without symptoms?
1. Glaucoma- your peripheral field of vision starts constricting and may lead to complete blindness but you may not notice it at all!!
2. Diabetic retinopathy in it’s early stages is entirely without symptoms and it’s usually too late when you notice your vision is lost
3. Age related macular degeneration in it’s dry variant- is without symptoms in initial stages and may present with loss of vision suddenly in it’s wet variant wherein central vision is often permanently list
4. Peripheral retinal degenerations, holes and tears in high myopes are precursors for retinal detachment and can be without any symptoms; picked up only on routine dilated retina examination
5. Cataract- is a gradual dimming of vision and can be without symptoms in it’s early stages, only picked up on routine eye checkup
