Rotary Medical Mission in Jammu

Honoured to be part of the ophthalmology team in this Rotary surgical mission across Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, and Doda. With thousands of patients from remote mountain villages, this project brought sight and relief to many.

The last day of the project turned tense after news of the tragic incident in Pahalgam on April 22. Guest houses in Kishtwar and Bhaderwah were locked down, and teams were advised not to step out. Suspected militant movement near Kishtwar raised security concerns. With government support, our teams were given early morning clearance to leave. Despite roadblocks near Doda, we managed to reach Jammu safely—a huge relief after a night of uncertainty.

Honoured to share that our team—including Dr. Anandrao Khadke, Dr. Manoj Bhaigude, Dr. Uma Pradhan, Dr. Rahul Phase, and I—successfully completed 350 free cataract surgeries in Jammu & Kashmir under a Central Government project, in collaboration with Rotary International.

Despite the tough conditions, the spirit and commitment of everyone involved made it possible. It was a humbling experience to be part of this effort to serve the tribal and underserved communities of J&K.

While we were striving to restore vision and bring hope to remote communities, it’s heartbreaking to learn of the recent terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. One side working for humanity, the other trying to destroy it. More than ever, this reinforces our resolve to continue walking the path of service.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this national cause!

For the past 31 years, Pune Netraseva Pratishthan has organized its annual eye camp in Amravati during the final three days of the Ganpati festival. This year's camp was another success, thanks to the exceptional teamwork of the doctors, eye surgeons, anesthetists, and the invaluable local support and management provided by HVPM’s Vidarbha Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Amravati.

My 3rd consecutive yearly visit at J&K - This time we got an opportunity to serve a remotely located community in Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu & Kashmir by performing a variety of surgeries(600+) including some complicated ones.

Heartfelt gratitude towards our team,Rotary Internationall, the lieutenant governor J&K and health department J&K.

Next we plan to extend our services to Kishtwar, J&K.

Dr. Rajesh Pawar had a wonderful presentation on a humanitarian aspect - eye donation and corneal grafting, an intrinsic surgery at the National Arogya Fair & AIACcon 2024 Thane supported by Ministry of Ayush, Gov of Maharashtra, organised by Akhil Bharatiya Ayurveda Mahasammelan, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine(NCISM).

It was very well received and appreciated by the 1400+ attendees.

Dr. Rajesh Pawar was awarded for completing more than 90,000 eye surgeries over 37 years of his work life.

He was awarded the 'NetraRakshak' puraskar and Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Pagdi by Parivartan organisation, led by Dr. Shailesh Gujar, at the hands of Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council - Dr. Neelam Gorhe and veteran eye surgeon and mentor - Dr. Madhusudan Jhamwar.

After a successful Kashmir Mega surgical Project carried out in north Kashmir during May 2022, this year Rotary International is conducting Mega Surgical Project in south Kashmir from 3rd September to 13th September 2023 with continued trust from Government of Kashmir(U.T.) and with lead from a team of 32 Rotary Volunteer Surgeons with help of local government doctors & paramedical staff. Dr. Rajesh Pawar is part of the Opthalmic surgeons team.

Silver Jubilee Celebration in a Unique Way!

Dr Pawar Eye Hospital and Contact Lens Clinics, 272, Navi Peth Pune Maharashtra is celebrating their Silver Jubilee Year of hospital establishment in a unique way!
We endeavour to improve every day. We have arranged staff training programs, patient's added advantage checkup modules and doctor's updates every 17th of the month onwards from 17th April 2023, which will run for a total year.
