Road and space update :

Dear Girivanites !

We have collectively installed a memorial board for Late Prof Padmakar Sapre at the important crossing in Girivan called Sapre Chowk. This spot has been named Sapre Chowk for decades, and everyone within and outside of Girivan knows it as such.

Recently, the newly formed Coop Society under the aegis of SFPL installed another board there, called Tridal Chowk. None of us plot owners were taken into confidence / or consulted about this name change. Why did they do this? Why would anybody want to obliterate the name of such a fine gentleman, who was also the first citizen of Girivan ?

It is our collective responsibility to keep the history of Girivan alive ...therefore this action from us! Let us hope no one destroys or vandalizes this board.

Infact , land for Sapre Chowk was graciously given by Prof Sapre to SFPL.

This email is marked to SFPl also, and if any damage is seen on the Sapre Chowk board, we request them to kindly share the CCTV Camera footage they have anyways installed at Sapre Chowk.
