Important tests in pregnancy 👇🏻
First Trimester (Week 1-12)
1. Blood tests:
- Blood type and Rh factor
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Blood glucose screening
- Hepatitis B and C screening
- HIV screening
- syphilis screening
2. Urine tests:
- Urine analysis for protein, sugar, and bacteria
- Urine culture to check for infections
3. Ultrasound:
- Dating ultrasound to confirm gestational age
- Viability ultrasound to check for fetal heartbeat
Second Trimester (Week 13-26)
1. Blood tests:
- double marker for chromosomal abnormalities (Down syndrome, trisomy 18, and trisomy 13)
- Amniocentesis to check for genetic disorders
2. Ultrasound:
- NT scan
- Anatomy ultrasound to check for fetal development
- Growth ultrasound to monitor fetal growth
3. Glucose screening test:
- To check for gestational diabetes
Third Trimester (Week 27-40)
1. Blood tests:
- Group B strep (GBS) screening
- Anemia screening
2. Ultrasound:
- Growth ultrasound to monitor fetal growth
- Biophysical profile (BPP) to check for fetal well-being
3. Non-stress test (NST):
- To check for fetal heart rate and well-being
4. Fetal monitoring:
- To check for fetal heart rate and movement
Other tests
1. Pap smear:
- To check for cervical cancer
2. STD screening:
- To check for sexually transmitted diseases
3. Thyroid function test:
- To check for thyroid disorders
