⏩What are the Types of Polymelia?
Cephalomelia: Extra-limb attached to the head
Pyromelia: Extra-limb attached to the pelvis
Thoracomelia: Extra-limb attached to the thorax
Notomelia: Extra-limb attached to the backbone

⏩What are the Signs and Symptoms of Polymelia?
The signs and symptoms of polymelia are quite obvious. These include presence of limbs that are more than the normal number. This congenital anomaly is responsible for the extra number of limbs, as a result of which more than two arms or more than two legs are formed. Sometimes the limbs may be rudimentary or may be greatly deformed and disproportionate in size.

⏩How do you Treat Polymelia?
Treatment requires surgery to detach the soft tissue between the false limb(s) and other adjacent structures. Typically, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon would carry out the operation under general anesthesia. The surgery is quite complicated and involves the removal of the extra limbs from the body, taking utmost care not to excise other structures. A successful surgery is a life-changing event for the infant. However, the surgery can sometimes lead to disability and other complications.

⏩Health Tips
Have regular health check-ups during pregnancy: Do not miss any appointments with your gynecologist and follow all the instructions.
Educate yourself about diseases occurring during pregnancy: You should increase your awareness about diseases that may affect you or your baby during pregnancy.
Talk to your doctor to clarify your apprehensions: Consult your doctor regarding any doubts that may be in your mind.
Say "no" to consanguineous marriages: Do not marry with close relatives as this can dramatically increase the chances of your baby being born with congenital limb defects, including polymelia.

🔴Types of hypertrichosis
🌠Congenital hypertrichosis lanuginosa: It first appears as normal lanugo, the fine hair found on a baby, at birth. But instead of disappearing during subsequent weeks, the soft fine hair continues to grow in various places on the baby’s body.
🌠Congenital hypertrichosis terminalis: Abnormal hair growth begins at birth and continues throughout a person’s life. Hair, usually long and thick, covers the person’s face and body.
🌠Nevoid hypertrichosis: Excessive hair growth of any kind appears in a defined area. In few cases, more than one patch of hair is present.
🌠Hirsutism: This form of hypertrichosis is limited to women. It results in dark, thick hair growing in places women normally don’t have hair, such as their face, chest, and back.
🌠Acquired hypertrichosis: Unlike congenital hypertrichosis, the acquired form of the disease tends to develop later in life. As well, it results in two types of hair other than lanugo: vellus hair or terminal hair. Excess hair may grow in small patches or on all hair-growing areas of a person’s body.

🔴Symptoms of hypertrichosis
🌠Vellus: The follicles for these hairs are usually short (less than 1/13th of an inch long,They may be located anywhere but the soles of your feet, backs of your ears, lips, and palms, or on scar tissue. Vellus may be pigmented or nonpigmented.
🌠Lanugo: This type of hair is very soft and fine, like that on the body of a newborn baby. It usually has no pigment. Most babies lose lanugo within a few days or weeks after birth. If hypertrichosis is present, lanugo may remain unless treated and removed.
🌠Terminal: The hair is long and thick, and usually very dark.

🔴Treating hypertrichosis
shaving
chemical epilation
waxing
plucking
hair bleaching
Long-term treatments include electrolysis and laser surgery.

⏩ What causes foreign accent syndrome?

stroke, when blood flow is cut off to the brain.
traumatic brain injuries, especially from blunt force trauma.
brain lesions or aneurysms, when a blood vessel weakens and ruptures, causing internal bleeding.
multiple sclerosis (MS), a central nervous system condition.

⏩ What are the symptoms?

You have trouble pronouncing clusters of sound like S-T-R in words like “struck.”
You have trouble with sounds that require you to “tap” your tongue behind your top front teeth, such as “t” or “d.”
You pronounce vowels differently, such as saying “yah” where you used to say “yeah.”
You may add, remove, or substitute sounds, such as saying “suh-trike” instead of “strike,” or using an “r” instead of an “l.”
Your pitch or tone on certain sounds may be different.

You still speak your native language, but your accent sounds like that of someone who learned it as a second language later in life.
Your mental health is otherwise good, and no underlying mental health condition is leading to these accent changes.
Your errors are consistent across your entire phonetic system, giving the impression of a new “accent.”

⏩ What are the treatment options?

Speech therapy to learn how to recreate your previous accent through vocal exercises targeted at pronouncing sounds deliberately in your regular accent.
Counseling, therapy, or support groups to help you cope with any issues in your life that result from FAS. These issues may include people thinking that you’re faking your new accent or feelings that you’ve lost a part of your identity. Therapies may include behavioral therapy strategies to help you cultivate positive and healthy habits to combat negative or destructive thoughts, feelings, or habits.

⏩ How was this effect discovered?

🔴 During a study conducted in 1954 by MacMahon and Pugh in the United States, the two scientists came to a surprising conclusion. Originally, they had wanted to investigate how many white children were born in the US during the Second World War. But while they were doing this, they discovered one of the most incredible phenomena in the recent history of science.

⏩ What is the reason for the Returning Soldier Effect?

🔴 Explanation by Grant was saying that not the father but the mother had a higher impact on the s*x of the offspring. Grant was assuming that the more testosterone a mother is having in her blood the higher the chance of giving birth to a son. During war years women had to be “harder” and “tougher” and as a result, they have more boys, presumably because their testosterone levels increase during wars.

🔴 At the same time, it was also demonstrated that the probability of giving birth to a boy is high when the parents are tall. The “returning soldier effect” is therefore based on the fact that during a war on average taller men tend to survive and that the probability of them having a boy is higher than among smaller men.

🔴 Most voyeurs do not have Voyeuristic disorder.

🔴 Voyeurism usually begins during adolescence or early adulthood. Some degree of voyeurism is common, more among boys and men but increasingly among women. Society often regards mild forms of this behaviour as normal when involving consenting adults. Viewing s*xually explicit pictures and shows, now widely available in private on the Internet, is not considered voyeurism because it lacks the element of secret observation, which is the hallmark of voyeurism.

🔴 Voyeuristic disorder is one of the common paraphilias and is much more common among men.

⏩ Doctors diagnose Voyeuristic disorder when people feel greatly distress or less able to function well because of their behaviour, or they have acted on their urges with a person who has not consented.
