Chest Research Foundation is charitable trust, a division of Hamied Foundation. It was an autonomous research body, set up in November 2002 by Cipla Ltd. Obstructive airways diseases are holding sway thanks to rapid urbanisation, the pressures of modern living and sheer ignorance! Our doctors need to constantly update their knowledge; people must be made aware. According to the Ministry of Health, Government of India, India has an estimated 28 million people with asthma and 17 million with COPD. Projected figures for 2016 put the asthma figure at 35 million and COPD at 22 million.
