PCOD?

?

PCOD is seen very commonly these days.
Since past 2 years, I come across minimum three to four cases of PCOD and related symptoms every week and that too in early twenties.

Getting a routine Sonography in teenagers is out of question.

Girls complain abdominal pain, backache prior me**es or during me**es, sometimes have prolonged and heavy cycles or scanty flow etc.

Today at the clinic, a mother came with her sixteen year old girl.
She had irregular cycles since many years. Got cycles after every one or 2 months. Since past 6 months she had prolonged flow for 20 to 21 days.

She underwent lots of medications, treatments, hormonal pills but had no relief with prolonged periods.
So she decided to start with Ayurvedic treatment.

I went through all her reports. Her USG revealed PCOD.

Her mother asked immediately. How is it possible to develop PCOD in such a small age madam?

I nodded initially, took her detailed case study, her dietary regime, lifestyle, physical examination etc. and explained her mother.

Though PCOD is the seen diagnosis or interpretation in the USG report, but according to Ayurveda, the bodily doshas and dhatus along with physical and psychological condition, has to be taken into consideration and treat accordingly.

🌿Let's understand why and how teen girls suffer with PCOD or related symptoms?

🌿✨🌿✨🌿✨🌿✨🌿✨🌿✨🌿✨

✨We come across 70 to 80 percent of PCODic cases worldwide.
✨It's genetically influenced most of the times.
✨It is also stress induced
✨Imbalanced diet, regular consumption of junk food or packaged food, maida preparations, consumption of bakery products on a regular basis, having irregular food timings, having late night food, overeating, having food even when you are not hungry etc.
✨Lack of exercise, overdoing workouts, exercising during menstrual cycles, travelling long distances on a daily basis, may lead to the condition.
✨Traditionally, women during their periods, were allowed to rest, not allowed to cook or do any heavy physical activities.
This is the Rajaswala paricharya explained in the Ayurvedic texts.
These days it's the complete opposite seen.
✨Girls these days are seen participating in sports during their periods, having an imbalanced routine, not following a well balanced dietary regime. This leads to imbalance in the bodily Doshas and Dhatus, further eventually leading to PCOD or related symptoms.
✨These days adulteration is seen in food, air, milk, vegetables, fruits etc. This also may lead to bodily imbalances.
✨Consuming hormonal pills or oral contraceptives on a regular basis is definitely harmful.
✨Lack of nutrition, having various crash diets or extreme diets, excessive intake of proteins, consumption of nonveg on a daily basis is another causative factor.
✨Consuming curd on a daily basis, may aggravate the Pitta dosha, increase the body heat and lead to vertigo, hot flushes, excessive sweating, heavy menstrual bleed or prolonged flow during the cycles.
✨Sleeping late at night
✨Chronic constipation etc.

So initially we need to rule out the causative factors and then treat accordingly.
Ayurvedic medications, Panchkarma, Basti Treatment, following a balanced dietary and lifestyle regime is very important when it comes to treating the same.
We get to see a great success rate and can definetely avoid recurrence.

HAD
🧿 A HEALTHY BABY 🤞
(Within just 4 months of treatment she conceived Naturally)

This case has been very challenging.
Male partner had S***m Agglutination, where the sperms are glued together / Clumped together in a bunch of 10-15-20.
Which makes conception difficult or in case if conceived, the chances of miscarriage is high.
ALSO the percentage of Dead S***ms was pretty high

His wife had 6 PREVIOUS miscarriages and one failed IUI.
She had a very thin Endometrium of 4mm.
Also she had Ovarian Cysts.

Not to mention "STRESS" which comes handy in such cases.

Considering both the partners had certain abnormalities which needed to be taken care of, BEEJSHUDDHI CHIKITSA explained by Ayurveda was recommended.

They both willingly started with the treatment which included various Panchkarmas like Virechan, Basti, Uttar Basti, Nasyam, Shirodhara, along with internal Ayurvedic medications, and a corrected dietary and Lifestyle regime was advised.

Male Partner also underwent UTTAR BASTI
treatment along with the above Panchkarmas.

In three and Half months of the treatment, she conceived Naturally In January 2025 and had a full term Pregnancy.
She delivered naturally a healthy Child in October 2025.🧿🤞

Thankyou for this wonderful feedback.

How to Reverse and Avoid Recurrence?

PCOD has become very common amongst women of every age these days. Almost every 3rd woman can be found PCODic if a random usg screening is done.

Women from teenage to twenties, early thirties, late thirties, early menopause can get PCODic signs and symptoms.

Poly cystic o***y meaning, many cysts are formed in the ovaries, these are basically water cysts which can affect the menstruation and the hormonal balance too.
Hence PCOD is not just a single ailment, rather it's a syndrome with one or many signs and symptoms.

~ of ~
Unknown
Sedentary lifestyle
Pollutants
Adulterated milk, vegetables, fruits etc.
Dietary mistakes
Stress
Sleep deprivation
Chronic constipation
Getting into odd extreme diets like only juice diets or high protein diets etc. for a longer duration.

~ and of PCOD~
Amenorrhoea (no menstruation)
Sudden weight gain
Sudden weight loss
Hormonal imbalance
Hirsutism (excessive hair growth over chin and cheeks)
Infertility
Irregular menstrual cycles
DUB( dysfunctional uterine bleeding)
Hairfall etc.

Dietary modification and correction is the primary line of treatment. There's no fix set of medications or hormonal pills that can help to cure the PCOD tag as such. As I said it's a combination of one or more symptoms as described above, we have to treat in particular firstly the symptoms seen, along with the lifestyle and dietary modification.

Treating PCOD becomes tricky at times, because it's not just a particular symptom, but it's also related to the hormonal imbalance. Hence thinking with terms to the overall body conditions, the line of treatment is suggested.

*As per , the first line of treatment begins with a thorough detoxification process meaning panchakarma like vaman, virechan, basti as per the individual constitution and the signs and symptoms occured.
*reducing weight if there is weight gain and gaining weight in case of extreme weight loss.
*Internal Ayurvedic medications to help correct the hormonal imbalance, to improvise the metabolic rate and correct the menstrual cycles if required.
Lifestyle and dietary modification is a must. For it plays a major role than the medications prescribed.
*Certain exercises like walking, yogasanas etc. beautifully help with the healing process
*Pranayam, omkar, and meditation techniques along with Shirodhara (medicated oil pour over forehead) is suggested if there's stress involved.
Every such factor needs to be taken into consideration and needs to be treated accordingly to help with the healing process.

By now it's hopefully clear that PCOD is a matter of worry and needs attention in terms of medications and lifestyle modifications, but it's surely curable and one can get rid of the signs and symptoms mentioned above by the proper guidance with regards to medications or panchakarmas or dietary modifications.

HENCE DO NOT PANIC IF THERE'S A CYST DIAGNOSED IN YOUR USG HEREAFTER.
JUST TRY AND CORRECT YOUR LIFESTYLE.

generalised to be followed in PCOD:

Most importantly always remember, never ever deprive yourselves from anything. Everything in moderation is good for your body.

-Early morning wake up-by 6.30 am
-Have a glass of warm water with 1 lemon juice freshly squeezed
( Drinking excessive water will load your kidneys, leading to further complications. Hence don't drink 1 litre of water at a time. Try and consume little water after every 15-20 minutes as per the thirst)

-After 20 minutes- have 2 khajoor, 1 walnut, 12 black raisins soaked overnight and 4 almonds soaked overnight. Sit down and chew it all properly and slowly.

-By 7.30-8.30 am- some form of workout.
School or college goers can do it in the evening.

-By 9 am- breakfast-
Have 1 boiled egg and mug of cows milk with shatavari kalpa or shatavari roit powder
-Vegetarians can have 1 moong cheela and milk with shatavari.

-At 11 am - have a fruit( any seasonal fruit )

-At 12 noon - have a glass of buttermilk

-At 1 pm- lunch
1 chapati+ sabzee+ 1 katori dal + salad
( Avoid tuwar dal. Have moong and masoor, kulith~horsegram mostly)

-1.30 pm - half a glass of buttermilk.

-5 pm - salad ( cucumber, beetroot, cabbage, carrots etc.)

-6.30 pm- green tea or black tea with jaggery and lemon

-7 pm- Dinner
1 jowar bhakri + sabzee + 1 katori dal

Kindly note-
Sabzee- meaning mostly leafy and fruity vegetables
Dal- moong and masoor preferably
Early dinner is a must must
Avoid chole, rajma, chana on a daily basis
If you feel like having junk food or noodles or a burger, have it for lunch.
Consume daily 3 table spoons of cows ghee compulsorily.
Avoid bakery products totally( biscuits, breads etc.)
******
This is a generalised diet suggested and works for all mostly. But with severe signs and symptoms, medical guidance needs to be taken.

Stay blessed
Stay fit :)
