Building Tomorrowโ€™s Athletes: How Behavioural Science Can Help

On 16th March 2026, the final year students of B.Sc. Behavioural Health Sciences, Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Pune, visited the ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—”๐—ฏ๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ธ ๐——๐—ฒ๐—ผ Centre of Sports Medicine & Human Performance in Baner. The visit provided a detailed and practical understanding of how sports sciences are applied in athlete care and performance development. Founded by Dr. Abhishek Deo, the centre is built on the idea of bridging the gap between clinical recovery and performance training. The students gleaned great insights on ensuring that athletes do not have to choose between the two but can access both simultaneously through an integrated approach.

On 11th March, 2026, the second-year students of B.Sc. Behavioural Health Sciences, Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Pune, visited the Samyak Mental Health Care Centre in Baner, Pune. The students gained firsthand insights into how substance use disorders and deaddiction work in the field. Samyakโ€™s organisational set-up and their person-centred policies enlightened the students on how empathy remains as a crucial part of mental healthcare.

Students of the MPH program at ๐’๐ฒ๐ฆ๐›๐ข๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ฌ recently participated in community outreach activities under the ๐’๐‚๐Ž๐๐„ (๐’๐ฒ๐ฆ๐›๐ข๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐Ž๐ฎ๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐œ๐ก ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฆ) during the month of February.

In alignment with ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐‚๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ซ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ and ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐ฉ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฉ๐ฌ๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ, the students conducted awareness sessions on cancer and epilepsy in four community camps held in ๐€๐ง๐๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐ž, ๐Š๐š๐ญ๐š๐ซ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐๐š๐ค, ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐›๐จ๐ฅ๐ข.

Through these camps, the students engaged with community members to spread awareness
about prevention, early detection, and management, while also addressing common myths
and stigma associated with these conditions. The initiative provided an opportunity for students to apply their public health knowledge in real-world community settings.
