Neurofibromatosis is a group of genetic conditions that cause tumors to grow on the nervous system, though most are non-cancerous. The most common types are Neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1) and Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2), which are distinct genetic disorders, along with a rarer form called schwannomatosis. Symptoms vary but often include skin changes like light brown spots and tumors that can affect the skin, spinal cord, and brain.
