Sunburn happens when your skin is exposed to excessive ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. It can cause redness, burning, pain, peeling, and long-term skin damage such as pigmentation, premature aging, and increased risk of skin cancer.

To prevent sunburn: • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
• Reapply every 2–3 hours, especially outdoors
• Wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses
• Avoid peak sun hours between 10 AM – 4 PM

If you develop severe sunburn, blistering, or persistent pigmentation, it’s best to consult a dermatologist.

“Paraben-free” has become one of the most popular labels in skincare today. But what exactly are parabens?

Parabens are a group of preservatives commonly used in cosmetics, skincare, and even some medicines to prevent microbial contamination. The most commonly used ones include methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben.

Over the years, concerns were raised because some laboratory and animal studies suggested that parabens may have weak estrogen-like activity. This led to questions about a possible link with breast cancer. However, current human evidence has not established a direct causal relationship between parabens and cancer.

Because of this, regulatory authorities allow their use within defined safety limits:
• Up to 0.4% (w/w) for an individual paraben
• Up to 0.8% (w/w) when parabens are used in combination.
Like many ingredients used in cosmetics, safety depends on concentration and exposure.

That said, many people today prefer minimizing unnecessary exposure where possible. A reasonable approach is choosing paraben-free options for products used frequently and over large skin areas, while understanding that short-term use of medications containing parabens is generally considered safe.
The goal is not fear — but informed choices backed by science.

Prickly heat is very common during hot and humid summers but can often be prevented with simple skin care habits. Keep your skin cool, dry, and breathable to avoid heat rash. If symptoms persist, seek expert advice.

Sweaty days = fungal growth days ☀️🦠
Summer humidity creates the perfect environment for fungal infections — but a few simple habits can keep your skin safe.

✔️ Keep skin folds dry
✔️ Change out of sweaty clothes quickly
✔️ Wear loose cotton clothing
✔️ Avoid sharing towels
✔️ Don’t use OTC combination steroid creams without prescription

Healthy skin is dry, clean & well-ventilated! 🌿

Holi is fun for you… but not always for your skin barrier 🌈

A little prep before stepping out and gentle care after can prevent dryness, irritation, breakouts and hair damage.
Protect → Play → Repair — that’s the glow-safe Holi mantra.

Save this before you step out to play!

“Why does sunscreen make me sweat more?” ☀️

If you feel extra sweaty after applying sunscreen, you’re not imagining it — but sunscreen isn’t directly increasing your sweat glands’ activity.
Here’s what’s happening 👇
🔹 Chemical (organic) sunscreens absorb UV rays and convert them into heat. In hot, humid weather, that slight surface heat can make you feel warmer and trigger more sweating.
🔹 Sunscreens form a protective film on the skin. When you sweat, evaporation slows down — so sweat beads up and feels more noticeable.
🔹 Thicker, cream-based formulas can feel heavy, especially in Indian summers.
🔹 You’re applying more product (2 finger lengths for face!) than a regular moisturiser — so naturally it feels occlusive.

💡 How to reduce sweating with sunscreen:
✔ Choose gel-based or fluid sunscreens
✔ Look for matte / oil-free / non-comedogenic formulas
✔ Apply on completely dry skin
✔ Allow 5–10 minutes before stepping out
✔ Use blotting paper instead of rubbing

Remember: sweating after sunscreen ≠ sunscreen is harmful.

Skipping sunscreen will cost you more in pigmentation, tanning and premature ageing.

Save this for summer ☀️

Nail art looks beautiful 💅 but wrong techniques can quietly damage your natural nails.

❌ Don’t remove the cuticle – it’s a protective barrier and removing it can lead to paronychia and fungal infections.

❌ Avoid excessive resin/acrylic exposure – it can trigger contact dermatitis and allergies.

❌ Don’t overfile or aggressively buff the nail plate – this thins the nail and makes it brittle.

❌ Never rip off gel polish – it strips the top layer of your nail.

Healthy nails first. Art second. ✨

“Why is my pigmentation not going?”

Because pigment doesn’t disappear — it has to be biologically regulated and gradually shed.
Once melanocytes are triggered by sun, hormones, or inflammation, they stay overactive for weeks. Treatment works by calming this overactivity, reducing melanin production, and allowing pigmented cells to clear through natural skin turnover.

This process takes time.

Understanding the science improves compliance to treatment — and compliance is what truly determines results.

Consistency. Sun protection. Patience.

Newborn skin is not just “smaller adult skin” — it’s a whole different world 🤍
A baby’s skin is thinner, more permeable, and still learning how to protect itself. The barrier is immature, water loss is higher, and even mild products can irritate it easily. That’s why newborn skin reacts faster, dries out sooner, and absorbs chemicals more readily than adult skin.
This delicate phase needs less interference, fewer products, and extra gentleness: • Mild, fragrance-free cleansers
• Short, lukewarm baths
• Light moisturisation to support the skin barrier
• No harsh scrubbing, no unnecessary cosmetics

Remember — in newborn skincare, simple is safe. When we respect how fragile their skin is, we help it mature naturally and stay healthy long-term. 🤍
Less products. More care. Always gentle.

Before a new skincare product touches your face—patch test it 🧪

This simple step can prevent rashes, burning, and long-lasting dark marks (PIH).
Always test new products on a small, unexposed area first.
If a reaction happens, it’s easier to manage—and less noticeable—than a facial flare-up.

🚨 3 skin mistakes I see commonly in the clinic — and how to fix them 👩‍⚕️✨

1️⃣ Tight sari/dhoti tying
Constant friction + pressure can lead to pigmentation, rashes, infections and even painful ulcers over time.
✔ Prevention: Tie drapes comfortably, avoid tight knots, and give your skin breaks at home. Choose softer, breathable fabrics.

2️⃣ Black thread around the waist
It traps sweat, moisture and fungi—often causing recurrent fungal infections and darkening.
✔ Prevention: Remove it if you have itching, rashes or recurrent tinea. If worn for religious reasons, keep the area clean, dry, and change the thread frequently.

3️⃣ Adding camphor to oil
Camphor can irritate the skin, disrupt the barrier and trigger contact dermatitis or burns—especially in sensitive skin.
✔ Prevention: Use plain oils if needed. “Natural” doesn’t always mean safe for skin.

Small daily habits make a big difference to long-term skin health.
