Have you ever felt a sudden burning or shooting pain on your skin, followed by a rash on one side of your body?
This could be Herpes Zoster (Shingles) — a condition many people don’t recognize early enough.
Shingles happens when the chickenpox virus, which stays inactive in your body for years, gets reactivated. This usually occurs when your immunity is low due to age, stress, illness, or certain medical conditions.
Early symptoms often include pain, tingling, or sensitivity even before the rash appears. Once the rash develops, it can become painful and may lead to complications if not treated on time.
Delaying treatment can increase the risk of:
• Long-lasting nerve pain (post-herpetic neuralgia)
• Secondary infections and scarring
• Eye complications and vision issues
• Nerve damage affecting movement
The most important thing to remember is this: treatment works best within the first 72 hours.
If you notice symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
