Invited as Faculty for NEST workshop at Mahapedicon in Kolhapur over the weekend. It was a pleasure to come across one of the best simulation Labs in India. Simulation is the way to go for learning in all fields- especially where it is matter of life and death.
Thank you organising committee to give me the opportunity to be a part of the wonderful workshop and conference.

"Parents, watch out! There’s a spike in viral fevers & respiratory infections among children this season."
— Dr. Tejas Hambir, Consultant Neonatologist

As the weather shifts and pollution levels rise, kids—especially infants and premature babies—are falling sick more frequently.

🌧️ Changing climate
🌫️ Poor air quality
🛡️ Low post-viral immunity

🩺 Timely intervention is key. If your child has recurrent fever, cold, or cough—don’t ignore it. Get a proper pediatric check-up before symptoms escalate.

Let’s stay ahead of seasonal illnesses and protect our children with awareness and early action.

Some bonds go forever. Thank you Madhavi sunil and Nitya to take our time from your schedule to come and visit me today at Jupiter Hospital. Nitya has grown up so cute and intelligent. She is my 32 weeks premie born 4 years back at weight of 1.3kg. They live in Hyderabad and were visiting pune for family reasons. To take our time and visiting your neonatologist at birth is the best return gift anyone would ever ask for. I always felt that it is not just Doctor patient relation which should have especially in neonatal practice- many would disagree but it has always brought me more happiness.
A big thank you little princess!!!

Grateful to share that my article on the surge of bronchitis & pneumonia cases due to erratic weather has been featured in The Times of India today. 🌧️🩺

With rising infections, especially among children and high-risk groups, it’s more important than ever to stay vigilant about symptoms, practice hygiene, and seek timely care.

A big thank you to my patients and readers for always trusting and encouraging me to spread awareness. 💙

Have seen many typhoid cases in career but this girl taught few new things- very atypical presentation and she had very unusual course. From being admitted in ward to rapidly deteriorating and going into ICU with SIRS/septic shock she gave tough time getting back to normal. Of the many cases managed in past she was the one who made me actually worry- wanting her to get well soon - eventually after 10days of ICU stay she got discharged and came back for follow up with a wonderful card. ❤❤❤Nice to read that people feel I’m calm with amount of thoughts going inside the brain. 😎

👶✨ Umbilical Cord Care – What Every New Parent Should Know

After birth, your baby’s umbilical cord stump usually falls off within 7 to 10 days. During this time, it’s normal for it to look a bit strange or change color as it dries.

✅ How to care for it:

Keep the area clean and dry – avoid covering it with tight diapers.

No tub baths until the stump falls off; stick to gentle sponge baths.

Fold the diaper below the stump to let air in and prevent rubbing.

Let it fall off naturally – never pull it, even if it’s hanging by a thread.

⚠ Seek medical advice if you notice:

Foul smell or pus

Redness or swelling around the base

Fever or the baby seems unwell

💡 Good cord care = faster healing and less risk of infection. Let’s keep those tiny tummies healthy!

Academic feast last week. Glad to share that our students won 1st prize ( Dr Rahalika Reddy and Dr Archana Panjabi) in the ORS quiz and 2nd prize in the Breastfeeding quiz ( Dr Pritam Sonawane and Dr Mini Gupta) both held at YCM medical college. Proud moment for the students as well as us as their mentors. Also felt nice to be invited as judge for the breastfeeding quiz. It feels amazing to go back to academics and keep learning everyday. Congratulations to all the winners.
