When Dave Ogle's heart stopped while watching TV on the couch, his wife, remembering the CPR training she'd had less than a year before, kept him alive. Paramedics shocked his heart seven times with an AED before it started beating again.

Four years later, Dave gave up his deadline-driven job and now works at a retail store near his home. He likes the small staff, the physical activity and very little stress. His other work project is co-writing a book with his wife about their experience. They want to spread the word about cardiac arrest and the value of CPR.

Dave says his personality has changed too, in a good way.

"I'm a much more open person. I share more and put my feelings out there." He's also more willing to spend money on things like vacations to Europe and a new home.

"I used to be so hesitant, but now I think, why are we holding back? What am I afraid of? Life is short."
