Total or significant loss of hearing.
Deafness is usually the result of inner ear or nerve damage. It may be caused by a congenital defect, injury, disease, certain medication, exposure to loud noise or age-related problem.

The chief symptom is an inability to hear sound.

Symptoms of hearing loss:-
1)Difficulty hearing other people clearly and misunderstanding what they say, especially in noisy places.
2) Need to ask people to repeat themselves.
3)Listening to music or watching TV with the volume higher than other people need.

For some, hearing may be possible with surgery or a hearing device.

Hearing aids can be broadly categorized into many types: Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Receiver -in the Canal (RIC) and In-the-Ear (ITE). Within these categories, there are several styles, including, In-the-Canal (ITC), Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC), and Invisible-in-the-Canal (IIC). Each style has its own advantages and is suited for different types and severities of hearing loss, as well as individual preferences.
