Shavasana (co**se pose) - according to shiva samhita one of the authentic scripture of hatha yoga, it is mentioned that there are 8.4million posture in yoga, which represent number of species in the world.

Often when I asked to student what is your favorite posture? most of the time their reply is shavasana, they think shavasana is one of the easy posture to do, but attention if you think same, then stop for a moment and check when you do shavasana are you able to stay concious Or not??? For me shavasana is the one of the easiest and difficult posture.

Human body and mind has a geometry and physiology when your spine is vertical in sitting position then it is more easy to be concious but as you kept your spine horizontal with the floor your brain recieved signal of relaxation and body start relaxing and to be concious in supine relax position is quiet challanging in the beginning.

One should practice a deep shavasana after a yoga practice to reorient the energy. It helps to heal the muscle, joint and get rid from fatigue.

Few tips can help you to do a concious shavasana practice:

1. Loose your whole body especially some major joints such as hips and shoulder.

2. Move your awareness towards whole body through your breath.

3. Don't keep any pillow under your neck it will not decrease the blood circulation towards your brain.

4. Begin from 3 minute shavasana

what is om?

Om (or Aum) is a sacred sound and a spiritual symbol in Hinduism, that signifies the essence of the ultimate reality,
consciousness or Atman. It is a syllable found in the Vedic literature of Hinduism, such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and yoga sutra.

what is mandukya upanishad?

The Mandukya Upanishad is a Hindu scripture written in Sanskrit, It is the only Upanishad that is fully devoted to the explanation of the syllable Om.

Om according to mandukya upanishad?

In the Mandukya Upanishad, Om is explained as having four states: waking (jagrata), dreaming (svapna), deep sleep (sushupti)
and the fourth state (turiya). These four states of consciousness are said to correspond to the four states of Brahman: Vaisvanara,
Taijasa, Prajna, and Turiya. Vaisvanara is the waking state, Taijasa is the dream state, Prajna is the deep sleep state and Turiya is the fourth state.
Turiya is described as the state of pure consciousness, or the state of being aware of one's own existence without any thought or emotion.
It is said to be the ultimate reality and is the state of liberation, or moksha.

The Mandukya Upanishad further explains that Om is both the cause and the effect of all that exists in the universe,
and that it is the source of all knowledge. It is the beginning and the end of all creation. It is the one reality that pervades all existence, and it is the one truth that lies beyond all duality.
The Upanishad concludes by stating that meditating on Om leads to the realization of the highest truth.

What are the benefits of chanting om?

The benefits of chanting Om mantra include calming the mind and body, improving focus and concentration,
deepening the meditation practice, and connecting with the divine. It is believed to have a powerful vibrational energy which
can heal and balance the body, mind and soul. Chanting Om can also help to reduce stress and anxiety, and promote feelings of peace and joy.

Makar Sankranti – Significance Of The Festival

For those who might be curious to learn Makar Sankranti meaning and its significance, ‘Makar’ means ‘Capricorn’ and the movement of the sun into ‘Makara Raashi’ or the ‘Zodiac of Capricorn’ is called Makar Sankranti.

Each year, on the 14th of January, India welcomes a wave of festive cheer across the country. Somewhere between hues of yellow and the blue sky enlivened with colourful kites, the country celebrates an end and a new beginning with Makar Sankranti – the Harvest Festival.

What Is Makar Sankranti & Why Is It Celebrated?

In the Vedas, Sankranti deciphers the movement of the Sun from one rashi (constellation of the zodiac) to the next. Hence, there are 12 Sankrantis in a year. Out of these, the Makar Sankranti also dubbed ‘Poush Sankranti’ is considered the most auspicious and it is one of the few Hindu festivals that is aligned with the solar cycle. Infact, the festival also marks the beginning of the harvest season when new crops are worshipped and shared with delight.

It heralds a change in season, as from this day the Sun begins its movement from Dakshinayana (South) to Uttarayana (North) hemisphere, marking the official end of Winters.

Which God Is Worshipped On Makar Sankranti?

Although there are plenty of stories about Makar Sankranti and its religious roots, it is said that the Sun stands for “Pratyaksha-Braham”, “a manifestation of the absolute” spiritual light, wisdom, and hence Makar Sankranti is a special festival across the country, where Surya- the Sun God is worshipped and offered gratitude and prayers.

Food
Makar Sankranti is a time to consume freshly harvested food grains, which are first offered to the Gods and then eaten. Ayurveda suggests eating Khichdi since it is a light and easily digestible dish. The connotation of eating Khichdi is that it prompts the body to prepare for the change in season, from the cold Winter breeze to the forthcoming warmth of Spring. Khichdi thus makes for the perfect dish to quench the appetite whilst providing the body with essential nutrition.

What is Hatha yoga?

Evolution:

It is said that the Hatha yoga lineage evolved with the Natha sampradaya(community) and it follow shaivism, according to Hatha yoga tradition lord shiva is known as first yogi or adiyogi, according to yogic mythology shiva shared this knowledge of yoga first with his wife goddess parvati. It is said that these teachings of Hatha yoga came in existence around 5 to 7 thousands years ago, but it has not any exact proof it is just based on yogic mythology.

Natha word also comes with shiva, the Sanskrit word nātha नाथ literally means "lord, protector, master". The related Sanskrit term Adi Natha means first or original Lord, and is a synonym for Shiva, the founder of the Nāthas and that's why shiva is also known as adinatha, so this tradition passed by the yogis named Matshyendranatha, Gorakshanatha, charpatinatha, one of the great notable hatha yogis who attained the higher state of conciousness and actually this natha term signifies that lineage, which began with adinatha.

Concept of hatha yoga :-

The Sanskrit word हठ haṭha literally means "force", alluding to a system of physical, mental and emotional techniques.

But the question is what type of force??, often people misunderstood hatha meaning they think it means to doing hatha yoga practice forcefully, which is not truth at all, the idea of hatha yoga practice is to attain force physically and mentally. How???

Meaning of hatha yoga?
Hatha is made up of 2 words "HA" and "THA", according to Hatha yoga a human body has two parts right and left side of spine.

Right body is related with "Ha" and(solar energy) and Left body is related with "Tha" and (lunar energy). The aim of practicing Hatha yoga is to attain balance of prana (vital energy) by synchronizing both solar and lunar energy in nadis.

Why? people suffer while practice asana.

Although there are so many factors of suffering in practicing asana. In which one is mental attitude, how you are looking into a posture while practicing. When we do posture most of the time i found that people practice asana with the attitude to hold and run away from the posture, that mindset of running from asana generate suffering during practice so it is very very important that to practice asana without pushing your body to much into the posture and find the range of your body and learn to stay there without running away from it, that can be a solution to attain the posture without suffering in posture.

wish you all a very happy Ganesh chaturthi 🌿🌿🌿.

Ganesha

Ganesha, also spelled Ganesh, also called Ganapati, elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, who is traditionally worshipped before any major enterprise and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors. His name means both “Lord of the People” (gana means the common people) and “Lord of the Ganas” (Ganesha is the chief of the ganas, the goblin hosts of Shiva). Ganesha is potbellied and generally depicted as holding in his hand a few round Indian sweets, of which he is inordinately fond. His vehicle (vahana) is the large Indian bandicoot rat, which symbolizes Ganesha’s ability to overcome anything to get what he wants. Like a rat and like an elephant, Ganesha is a remover of obstacles. The 10-day late-summer (August–September) festival Ganesh Chaturthi is devoted to him.

That is, there can be no doubt in this matter that man cannot live without doing action even for a moment in any time, because all human beings are bound to act due to the qualities of nature. Human beings have to do some or the other karma even if they do not want to and these actions are due to bo***ge. Attachment remains in the actions performed in an ordinary state, due to which many types of samskaras (impression) arise. Due to these sanskars man remains trapped in the cycle of life and death. Whereas if these actions are performed with a non-attachment feeling, then it becomes the way to attain salvation.

Why is yoga important today?

In most of the cases I found that people have no idea about yoga nor its infinite possibilities. Whenever people hear the word yoga, a picture of a posture (asana) comes in their mind.

Yoga is a journey to know oneself, and through it to become established in one's nature. But at present the expectations of man have become very small, it seems that he wants to achieve the unlimited, but he has remained confined in the limited dimensions of the material world. Consequently, even in the context of yoga, he gets stuck only in materialism. But yoga is capable of giving what everyone wants in all senses, you can also call it Kalpataru (the tree of fulfillment of desires), if you just need to follow yoga with the right guidance and rules. Yoga is currently a panacea to get rid of most diseases, at present, where modern medical system is failing to cure completely, while yoga is emerging as an alternative medicine, giving a ray of hope in the lives of people, today yoga practice is slowly becoming a part of the daily life of the people and it is also very necessary.

wish all indian a happy independence day.

The formal British rule in India is under- stood to have commenced in 1757, after the Battle of Plassey, when the Nawab of Bengal surrendered his dominions to the British East India Company. Henceforth the British Company transformed from a commercial trading venture to a political entity which virtually ruled India.

The British Raj it is also called Crown rule in India, or direct rule in India, and lasted from 1858 to 1947.

The Indian Independence Bill, which carves the independent nations of India and Pakistan out of the former Mogul Empire, comes into force at the stroke of midnight on August 15, 1947.

Santosha (Satisfaction): What is contentment?

According to the Yoga Sutras Santosh is a part of Ashtanga Yoga (eight limbs of yoga) in the second limb (niyama), Maharishi Patanjali said that a Yogi should follow Santosh. Sadhak should be happy in whatever he has without any ambition because no matter how much he increases the craving, it keeps on increasing and he is never satisfied, therefore the seeker should adopt contentment in life, only then there is progress in the path of yoga.

In the second chapter of the Yoga Sutras sadhan pada(name of chapter), Patanjali explains the fruit of following contentment in life, that once contentment is perfected, it gives ultimate happiness.
