Assisting a student into Sirsasana often glorified as the King of Asanas.
But is it truly the king in traditional Hatha Yoga?

During our recent TTC, I gave the students a little homework: Go find out which asana is actually referred to as the King of all poses according to classical Hatha Yoga texts.

Want to guess what it is?

Here are your clues:
It’s not a showy pose.
You’re grounded not inverted.
It demands openness in the hips and stability in the spine.
It’s said to prepare the body for deep meditation and ultimately, liberation.

Got a guess? Drop it below ⬇️

I’ll share the answer — and why it holds such a revered place — in the next post.

Throwback to our soulful Sunday excursion to Balkumari Temple, Rishikesh - a hidden gem nestled in the serene hills en route to Neelkanth.

This sacred space dedicated to Maa Parvati stands as a quiet testament to the divine feminine energy. The temple’s peaceful ambiance invites calm, encourages introspection and fosters a deep sense of connection with the cosmos, with nature and with one’s inner self. It’s a place where silence speaks and the spirit finds rest.

Such outings aren’t just about travel..they’re meaningful milestones in our teacher training journey.
They help us:
* Reconnect with ourselves and each other beyond the classroom.
* Develop mindfulness, patience, and presence—core values in education.
* Experience learning through culture, nature, and community.
* Build a deeper sense of empathy and shared purpose.

These reflective moments stay with us, reminding us that becoming a teacher is as much about growing within as it is about guiding others.

Our goal at Adi Yoga Shala is simple to share what we know and help shape students into confident, self-reliant teachers.
We guide them.
We help them connect the dots.
We hold space.
We give feedback.
We challenge them to do better.

But the real transformation?
That always belongs to the student.

“When the mind is quiet, all happens naturally.” – Ramana Maharshi
In a world that’s constantly rushing, overstimulated and always asking for more… moments like this are a reminder to just stop. To breathe. To feel. The sound of the Ganga, the Aarti, the chants.. it slows everything down. And suddenly, the noise inside quiets too.
