Why I practice inversions daily?

Yoga inversions, such as sirsasana (headstand) and sarvangasana (shoulderstand), are postures that raise the heart higher than the head. These poses redefine our relationship with gravity, offering numerous health and spiritual benefits.

They are more than just physical challenges, they are acts of humility and balance that teach us to find steadiness in an inverted position, providing clarity and a fresh perspective on our practice.

Inversions stimulate the nervous system, promoting mental clarity and contributing to a balanced yoga routine. These poses work on multiple layers of our bodies, extending beyond the physical. For example, practicing Viparita Karani strengthens the skeletal muscles in all limbs and impacts the nadis (energy channels) of the spine and chakra centers, potentially improving speech and singing abilities.

Inversions give blood vessels and the neurological system a chance to rewire, change flow direction, and restore energy, enhancing overall well being and vitality.

Do you practice inversions daily? Let me your experience in the comments below..

In my online yoga classes, we guide our students through preparatory inversions to prepare them for advanced postures while ensuring their safety.

Why we need to be more aware of our legs in Standing Sequence?

The legs play a crucial role in the development of good posture in yoga. Standing yoga asanas serve as a foundation for the entire body and, in the process, help remove any dullness or lethargy that may be present in the legs.

When the dullness in the legs is removed, the practitioner can better engage their leg muscles, enhancing overall strength and support. This newfound strength contributes to the maintenance of an upright posture, as the legs become more equipped to carry the body's weight effectively.

Standing yoga asanas serve as a transformative gateway for Practitioners. They help establish a harmonious relationship with the legs, which in turn allows for the development of an improved sense of balance and stability, both physically and mentally.

This journey towards a better posture not only benefits one's yoga practice but can also extend into everyday life, leading to a more graceful, confident, and centered presence.

Yoga is not a Quick Fix

Yoga isn't a quick solution it's a slow and steady process. In modern era where we often want things instantly, yoga takes its time. It won't magically change your body or mind overnight. Instead, it's a journey of self discovery and growth that needs patience and regular practice.

If you want all the good things yoga offers, you have to keep at it. Whether you're after a fitter body, a clearer mind, less stress, or inner peace, these benefits come gradually. You become more flexible, stronger, and calmer by practicing regularly, not by rushing.

In this time where everyone wants things right away, yoga reminds us that the most important changes take time. It teaches us to be patient, celebrate small steps, and realize that true well being is more than just looks. So, if you start doing yoga, know that it's a journey, not a race, and the rewards come from sticking with it.

The essence of yoga goes beyond just physical postures.
it extends to the adaptability of both the body and mind. Yoga is a practice that can help shape your body in such a manner that you become resilient to the changing seasons. Whether it's the biting cold of winter, the scorching heat of summer, or the unpredictability of the rainy season, yoga equips you with the tools to adapt and find comfort in any climatic condition. Through a consistent yoga practice, you develop physical strength, flexibility, and mental resilience, making it easier to face the challenges that different seasons bring. The ultimate goal of yoga is not only to attain physical fitness but also to create harmony between your inner self and the world outside, allowing you to navigate life's ups and downs with grace and ease. It's a holistic journey that empowers you to embrace all seasons with equanimity.

YOUR POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE MENTAL PATTERNS WILL SHOW UP DURING YOUR PRACTICE.

If you have problems with authority, you will react when your teacher tells you to repeat a pose 5 times. If you easily give up in challenging situations, you will notice that during shala practice, you would want to get out fast! If you are easily distracted by other activities other than the practice, your mind will keep wandering.

One intention of the practice is to identify the mental patterns, breathe through them and eventually get past them.

Ashtanga Yoga is a humbling, transformative practice. As I said before, yoga isn’t easy nor is it fun. But you can turn it into a somewhat fun practice by following these steps; it’s all in the mind.

- Have the heart of a student that’s hungry for learning and willingness to ask.

- Should you decide to visit a shala near you this week, I sincerely hope that your first time is a good experience and you’d want to go back.

- Finishing a novel starts with reading a page. Running a marathon starts with a few steps. Great things start from small beginnings...

Finding balance, one Breath at a time,

Finding balance, one breath at a time, encapsulates the essence of the yoga lifestyle. In a world filled with constant hustle and bustle, yoga offers a sanctuary of tranquility where individuals can reconnect with their inner selves. Through the practice of mindful breathing and a series of graceful poses, yoga teaches us to be present in the moment, letting go of the chaos that surrounds us. It reminds us that true equilibrium begins from within, as we harmonize our physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Each breath is a reminder that we have the power to find our center amidst the whirlwind of life, and with every inhale and exhale, we move closer to that inner peace, serenity, and balance we all seek.

The Timeless Imperative of Prioritizing Health.

Never wait for the right time to invest in health. Often, people fall into the trap of deferring their well-being, convinced that a more convenient moment will eventually present itself.

They postpone exercise routines until they have more free time, delay adopting a balanced diet until the holidays are over, and neglect mental health until the stress subsides. However, the elusive "right time" never truly arrives.

Life is an unpredictable journey filled with unexpected twists and turns, and in this unpredictable journey, health is the compass that guides us.

It is not a commodity that can be stockpiled for future use but a currency spent daily. Every choice we make, from the food we eat to the activities we engage in, is an investment in our health or a withdrawal from it. Thus, the only moment that truly matters is the present.

By embracing the here and now, we empower ourselves to make mindful choices that bolster our physical and mental well-being.

Rather than waiting for a distant ideal, let us seize this very moment to prioritize our health, for it is a decision that pays lifelong dividends, enriching our lives and ensuring that every moment we live is truly well-lived.

Going through internal heat 'Tapasya'

Tapasya in yoga practice embodies the idea that true spiritual growth and self-realization require dedicated and focused effort, a willingness to endure discomfort, and a commitment to purifying the body and mind. It serves as a transformative process that leads practitioners towards the ultimate goal of yoga: union with the higher self and the realization of one's true nature.

The crucial elements to deepen your Sadhana is Tapasya.
