✨ Looking back at this moment in Rishikesh. It was here that I first planted the seed for a teacher training course.

I studied at different schools and taught on teacher training programmes — each had their own strengths. Some focused on yoga philosophy, while others focused on alignment and adjustments. I was inspired to create a course that dived deep into all topics: yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, anatomy, asana alignment, adjustments, teaching methodology, and integrating yoga into your daily life, with senior teachers in each field.

In 2015, that seed grew into our first training in India - a traditional 200-hour, in-person course that ran annually.

The pandemic came, and students began asking for an online option. At first I resisted — how could this be authentic online? But as I began teaching and studying virtually, I realised how much could be absorbed from live, interactive classes. With more requests coming in, and the teachers in India available to teach online during lockdown, we carefully looked at the curriculum — what could be taught online, and what really needed to be experienced in person.

And so our hybrid teacher training course was born. Not pre-recorded videos to watch in your own time, but live sessions with teachers, in intimate group sizes for real teacher–student connection.

🌿 150hrs live online – Yoga Philosophy, Ayurveda, Anatomy & Physiology, Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Teaching Methodology, Satsang, Kirtan, Guest Speakers

🌿 50hrs in person – fully dedicated to teaching methodology, alignment, adjustments, and practice teaching

Over time, I have witnessed how much more we absorb when studying for shorter hours over a longer period of time. By the time everyone comes together for the in-person segments of the course, they are confident, grounded, and ready to step into teaching.

🌱 Our next training begins 1st October 2025:
• 150 hours live online
• 50 hours in person (options this year: India in November or Nairobi in December)

“We made it!

I stuck to my word and waited until hammers were in hands for the build of the new structure for , and then we departed 🙂

After a super long flight delay and drive, we arrived with no childcare and on the waiting list for my course, but with bags of determination!

In true India style, it all came together right at the final minutes! Our dear friend confirmed late in the night that she would take Anaya early morning for me to make the course. I was the very last person to make it into that room that morning. They had one space remaining, and I got in!

I was a hot mess, and this is how I arrive every morning and evening. I feed Anaya and sprint to reach on time :)

I am so grateful to be here, to be back in class. This Sadhana is such a gift.

Landed back in Kenya 🇰🇪 ❤️!
Roll on 2024!

Reflecting on a whirlwind 2023 filled with the highs and lows of pregnancy. Started the year with our annual 200-hour teacher training… pure magic! Biggest highlight was everyone from the online course coming to Nairobi! By March, I was in India for our 50-hour intensive course with pregnancy sickness like I’ve never experienced… I just knew from that point I was expecting a little girl. Gauri, Susan, Sharkles, and all the teachers, you were my rocks during that time! So much love to you ❤️

Returned to the UK twice for Kanga Wellbeing festival Summer season - from Hay Festival, SGP, Valley Fest, Boomtown to Beautiful Days with Italy in-between, I grew bigger, stronger, and heavier.

Closed the season and moved our home and moved the studio. Thrilled to share that Kanga Studio Nairobi partnered with Ikigai - incredibly excited for this venture this year!

But the pinnacle of 2023 was welcoming this little one :)
Another eventful baby arrival! Through the highs and the lows, this little miracle baby was born, Anaya Sita ✨

During pregancy, I was told that my life was going to change dramatically. I was not going to be the person I was before and I was not going to be living the lifestyle I was currently living… I just could not vision this. I visioned traveling with our baby, still teaching and exploring together ✨

When Elijah was 5 months, I ran the 200-hour teacher training with Kanga Studio Nairobii . One of the students on the course also had a young baby. She showed up every morning for live online training and then travelled (with her baby) to Kenya for the in-person hours. Our babies were looked after during our training and we would breastfeed them in the breaks.

Before Elijah turned 1 year, I took him on the train down to the coast of Kenya, where I was teaching on a retreat. We then travelled by train and road to Tanzania for Teacher Training. I scheduled regular breaks in both programmes to breastfeed him between the sessions and I made sure I was not teaching in the evenings there.

After teacher training in Tanzania, we travelled back to Kenya, packed our things and travelled to the UK for festival season. This was a different story altogether. We had larger festival events than usual in the pipeline, with audiences of 10 - 15k. These events were also pretty much back to back so we decided to invest in a campervan to travel between them with Elijah. On reflection, the biggest difference here was that we did not have a concrete, organised, detailed plan. We dived into it, and it was the toughest juggling act ever! I also fell sick at the end of the season. Working long hours, breastfeeding/expressing, teaching, managing and travelling.. all in the British heatwave 🥵 I learnt some hard and valuable lessons.

Through this journey of pregnancy and motherhood, I now take much better care of myself - more than I ever have. I am more organised and plan better 🙂

I do not think our lives need to change dramatically, only we need to adapt and we then grow through this experience. ✨

Diani Beach, Kenya 🇰🇪🌊

This week we celebrated Huduma Day (formerly known as Moi Day), a Kenyan holiday celebrated on October 10 every year.

On this day in 2006, my job came to a close in Nairobi and I found myself on this beach, waiting for a friend to meet me, figuring out my next move to stay in Kenya.

I was waiting hours for my friend to arrive and so a couple of the local residents took me under their wing and bought me a drink.

It was Moi Day, the restaurant became full within moments of me arriving, and I ended up joining the locals table for lunch!

It was a huge gathering. It was epic! Everyone was sharing stories… and then I shared mine. How I ended up in Kenya, what happened with the job and employers in Nairobi, and the situation I was currently in. It was a story! I shared my deep love for Kenya and desire to stay, but not only had my job expired, and my visa was expiring too.

Everyone was so kind to share ideas on the possibilities of staying in Kenya. One person offered me a job at the local scuba diving school; someone else person offered me accommodation; another kind soul offered me help with my visa; and one person offered to be my scuba diving teacher.

Later that day I went for a trial at the diving school, and the next day I got the job. I went back to Nairobi, gathered all my belongings, shared a magical trip in Laikipia (which sparked the beginning of the Laikipia retreats) and moved to Diani!

I took people out diving with a team of divers, and worked myself up to Rescue Diver.

I found diving to be such a meditative exercise. It was such a liberating feeling to wake up before sunrise, climb onto the boat, sail out on the water, and dive deep into the depths of the ocean. All I could hear was my breath, a soft, whispering breath, like the victorious, Ujayi, ocean breath!

I dreamed one day I would settle in Kenya... and here I am ✨

In the beautiful Kanga Spa yurt at Secret Garden Party

Kanga Yoga is an energetic, alignment‐based flow yoga practice.

The practice is inspired by the yogic teachings of Swami Sivananda, Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar, Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois… and Ayurveda philosophy.

According to the Ayurveda system (“Life Science” in Sanskrit), people have different biological body types. Our biological energies vary according to our lifestyles. In a Kanga Yoga class, we use the breath, asana, mudra and music to diver deeper intro our true Self. We use props for the asanas to enable us to open the whole physical body. In this process, we create space in the body, unblocking energy centres, allowing for more energy to flow through our body. Classes often close with Pranayama and always deep relaxation with sound healing.

Interested to join our next Teacher Training course starting this October? Part online course available. In-person segment offered in Kenya, Tanzania & UK.
