First thing First! What is Myelopathy?

Any disease that affects the spinal cord and causes neurological dysfunction is called a myelopathy.

An autoimmune myelopathy is a group of disorders that affect the spinal cord and are characterized by immuno-mediated mechanisms.

In light of the unforgiving nature of spinal cord injury, the rapid accumulation of disability in some cases, and the potential for early appropriate treatment, it is important to identify autoimmune myelopathies as soon as possible.

The majority of autoimmune/ inflammatory myelitis episodes will be accompanied by an elevated Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)white blood cell count(suggests a problem in the central nervous system)

Timely administration of acute treatment is critical to help stabilize and improve symptoms.

Hope this helps in understanding and consulting your nearby Neuro-specialist!
