On International Clinical Trials Day, the global healthcare community commemorates May 20, 1747 - the day Dr. James Lind embarked on the first controlled clinical trial. It is also an opportunity to reflect on India's own clinical research journey, shaped by decades of institutional growth and scientific advancement. From the establishment of early clinical research units, to the landmark 2005 regulatory alignment with global Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, India has built a robust clinical research ecosystem that is steadily serving as the launchpad for innovation in healthcare.

On this occasion, we express our deepest gratitude to the clinical research community, whose scientific rigor, collaboration, and dedication continue to transform medical discovery into more effective treatments for patients across the world.

Zydus Lifesciences Chairman Pankaj Patel has pledged ₹500 crore towards establishing Zydus Sardardham University in Ahmedabad. The announcement was made during the inauguration of Sardardham-3 in Vadodara, in the presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Investments like these expand access to education and capability building at scale. When industry invests in institutions and skilling, it strengthens the human capital that India’s next phase of growth will depend on.

PAGE and 8chili Partner to Launch India's first AI & VR Pharma Training Platform

The Pharmaceutical Academy for Global Excellence (PAGE), an initiative of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), today announced a strategic partnership with 8chili Inc. to launch India’s first AI and VR powered training platform for pharmaceutical manufacturing. The collaboration aims to address the industry’s shortage of job-ready talent in quality, production, and regulatory roles as India targets USD 130 billion in pharmaceutical growth by 2030.

By moving beyond traditional textbooks to immersive, tech-enabled learning, we are preparing the next generation of talent for the complexities of modern manufacturing.

Platform Features:
- Immersive Simulations: Includes over 200 VR simulations that act as "Digital Twins" for machines and SOPs.
- Operational Coverage: Training covers critical processes like granulation, aseptic filling, and visual inspection.
- AI Coaching: Uses the Skills Forge AI platform for 1:1 scenario-based coaching and continuous capability assessment.
- Risk-Free Training: Learners can practice and correct mistakes in a virtual environment before entering a live plant.

The platform will support programs for both fresh graduates and industry professionals. Deployment begins immediately and will be a core feature of PAGE’s new training facility in Ahmedabad, set to open in 2027.
