Strengthening regulatory enforcement through capacity building.

The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) was represented by Dr. Keshav Kumar, Senior Technical Advisor, at a two-day national training programme organised by the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare - NIHFW, India (NIHFW) on 12–13 December 2025 in New Delhi.

The programme focused on enforcement powers under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, in the context of the transition from CrPC to the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

By bringing together legal, judicial, and enforcement perspectives, the initiative reinforced the importance of lawful procedures, evidence integrity, inter-agency coordination, and constitutional safeguards to ensure effective and credible regulatory action.

IPA’s participation reflects its continued commitment to quality, patient safety, and strengthening India’s pharmaceutical regulatory framework through collaboration.

About IPA

The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) was established in the year 1999 in Mumbai. IPA represents research-based National Pharmaceutical Companies in India. The IPA works closely with the Government on policy-related matters and seeks to imbibe the experiences of the generic pharmaceutical industry internationally. It is also partnering with the Government in the evolution of a patent regime and up-gradation of the regulatory regime in India.

It consists of 24 member companies. IPA accounts for over 85 percent of the private sector investment in pharmaceutical research and development. We contribute more than 80 percent of the country's exports of drugs and pharmaceuticals and service over 57 percent of the domestic market.
