Autism and Speech.
Autism and Occupational therapy.
Autism and Behaviour therapy ?
Many parents since few years when their child is diagnosed as autism.
They look for Speech therapy
They look for Occupational therapy.
They don't go for Behaviour therapy, why ?
As they are not aware.
Yesterday a parent came to us with their son aged 7+ for Speech therapy.
He told he is given regular occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Still I could see the boy was
*Hyper
*Restless
*Behaviour issues(screaming, hand movements, pushing)
* No speech
*No expression
The father was not aware of behaviour therapy specially *cognitive* which many parent are not aware.
When my sister (psychogist) explained him the cognitive part he was surprised he said I never thought and was never told by any therapist concentration, Focus, thinking are important before speech.
Then we showed a students videos who came with same condition ,he saw in the video of boys first session he was restless behaviour, poor thinking, poor focusing can be seen in the video and next video after 1 month of cognitive behaviour classes now he is able to do puzzles, picture reading and best part is he talks by framing 2 to 3 word sentence.
After the whole explanation the father was happy to know all the right information, complemented us saying we find very less people like you who work from their heart and with dedication or else people are just making money on the name of autism.
Dear all parents just don't get panicked before going for occupational therapy and speech therapy go for behaviour therapy to improve cognition (concentration, focusing, thinking etc).
