Ferdinand Lyngdoh Marshillong from Meghalaya, a steadfast champion of disability rights, has dedicated over 18 years to advancing inclusion across the Northeast. Despite complete hearing impairment, he has been at the forefront of change, advocating for accessible transport, inclusive education, and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

His work includes training election officials in Indian Sign Language, strengthening democratic access, and creating sustainable livelihoods through EKANBHA Company. His journey stands as a powerful example of leadership driven by experience, resilience, and purpose.

On 3rd December 2025, in recognition of his exceptional service and impact, Ferdinand was honoured with the National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Sarvshreshth Divyangjan). Reflecting on this milestone, he shared that the award belongs not just to him, but to every person with disability and the volunteer organisations working tirelessly for inclusion.

Looking ahead, he aims to further support education for PWDs, especially within the Deaf community, encourage disabled entrepreneurs in Meghalaya, create more employment opportunities, and document the contributions of PWDs through a forthcoming book. His message to society is simple yet profound: “See the abilities, not the disabilities.”

As Empowerfest 3.0 comes to a close, we celebrate not just an event, but a movement, one powered by the talent, resilience, and unstoppable spirit of persons with disabilities across Meghalaya. Over the past months, we have witnessed creativity unfold, stories come alive, athletes rise, artists express, filmmakers inspire, and communities come together with one shared belief: that inclusion is not an act of charity, but a celebration of human potential.
To every participant, performer, filmmaker, athlete, student, teacher, caregiver, parent, volunteer, partner organization, and supporter—thank you.

You have shown that empowerment is possible when opportunities are created and voices are amplified. Empowerfest 3.0 stands today as a testimony to the strength of collaboration, the commitment of CPwD and SRCDA, and the incredible passion of our disability community.

As we conclude this year’s festival, may the spirit of inclusivity continue beyond these halls. May every achievement today become a stepping stone for tomorrow.
Here’s to more stories, more talent, and more milestones as we continue building an inclusive Meghalaya—together.
