One of the most common questions I hear in my clinic is:
“Doctor, IVF means twins, right?”
Let me gently clear this myth.
🌱 IVF does NOT mean you will definitely have twins.
Today, IVF is all about safe, planned, and personalized treatment — not multiple pregnancies by default.
In earlier years, multiple embryos were often transferred to improve success rates. But modern IVF focuses on Single Embryo Transfer (SET) whenever possible. This significantly increases the chance of a healthy singleton pregnancy, which is safest for both mother and baby.
👶 So when do twins happen in IVF?
If more than one embryo is transferred
Sometimes, rarely, a single embryo can split naturally
✨ What do I recommend?
At my center, every IVF plan is customized based on:
Your age
Embryo quality
Medical history
Previous IVF outcomes
Our goal is one healthy baby at a time, unless there is a medical reason to decide otherwise — and that decision is always taken together with you.
💬 Remember:
IVF gives you options and control, not forced outcomes.
If you have doubts, fears, or questions about IVF — please ask.
I believe informed patients feel calmer and more confident.
