Doctor’s life: A journey between hope and heartbreak.

Doctors are often seen as miracle workers, the last resort when life hangs by a thread. And yet, despite years of training, unshakable dedication, and the best technology, you come face to face with your limitations more often than the world realizes. It’s like being a sailor navigating a storm with all the skill in the world, but knowing the sea does not always listen.
Every patient comes with a silent prayer, and with each, you invest not just your medical knowledge but your humanity. You hope. You try. You stay up late analyzing, comforting, fighting. And when outcomes don’t align with effort, it doesn’t just feel like failure—it feels personal. You carry the weight, and yet the world moves on.
But medicine, like life, is also about resilience. The next morning, you walk into that ward or OT again—heart scarred but spirit intact. You begin again. Because some patients do more than test your skill—they teach you. Their strength in pain, their smile in suffering, etch themselves into your memory forever. They are the quiet reminders of why you chose this path.

Being a doctor is not about being godlike. It’s about being deeply human—flawed, hopeful, and endlessly trying.

Laparoscopy and Cancer :
During my postgraduate residency at NRS Medical College, every day was a new lesson, filled with emergency cases rushing into the ESOT. Acute abdominal emergencies and midline laparotomies were routine, fueled by the adrenaline of youth and the high-energy hospital environment.
Over time, my transition and interest reflected in laparoscopy, performing cholecystectomies and hernia repairs. With each advancement, surgical scars grew smaller—until I entered the field of cancer surgery. Suddenly, i was back to extensive laparotomies, making large incisions for tumor resections and cytoreductive surgeries, particularly for ovarian cancer.

But as time moved forward,we are back with minimal access surgery. It is a pic (cropped) of a Laparoscopic D2 distal gastrectomy.
The evolution continues, and the future seems to be heading toward robotic surgery, enhanced by AI—perhaps bringing us to a time when calculations are done with a tap of a finger rather than a scalpel in hand.

From Macro to micro and vice versa:

Our generation has witnessed the incredible journey of technology and science, from macro to micro and even to the nano level. In contrast, cancer follows an opposite path, starting as a microscopic cell and gradually growing into a large mass. Minimal access surgery has been a groundbreaking advancement in cancer treatment, allowing for more precise and less invasive procedures. Robotic Surgery is no longer the future ,it’s the present. The advancement of technology has always surprised me over the years. I was thrilled and enriched to attend the 2nd Global SS Innovations Robotic surgery conference at New Delhi last weekend.
