Outdoor games and activities help prevent and control the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) because they involve looking at distant objects, relaxing eye muscles, and exposing the eyes to brighter, natural light. Today on the occasion of National Sports Day, we encourage all children to spend about two hours outside daily and participate in outdoor sports for their overall wellbeing.

We were privileged to host stalwarts of ophthalmology and legendary eye surgeons - Dr. D Ramamurthy, Past President of All India Ophthalmological Society and Chairman of The Eye Foundation; Dr. Chitra Ramamurthy, Medical Director of The Eye Foundation and Dr. Jayangshu Sengupta, Chief Medical Officer of Priyamvada Birla Aravind Eye Hospital for our annual CME this weekend. It was a grand event with excellent interactive academic sessions. More than 70 delegates participated in the Sunday session. It was also for the first time an Ophthalmic CME organized in North Bengal was acredited by West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) and credit points were given. Thanks to all attending delegates, speakers & our scientific committee team for making this event a resounding success.
