🩺 Care When Far From Home

Mr. Yoshio Tateyama, a 55-year-old solo traveler from Tokyo, Japan, had come to Darjeeling for his holidays when he suddenly fell seriously ill and vomited blood, accompanied by abdominal pain—an alarming experience while being alone in a foreign place.

He was admitted to Anandaloke Hospital, where he was diagnosed with gross esophagitis with Mallory–Weiss tear, complicated by shock. He was treated under the expert care of Dr. R. P. Ray, MD, DM (Gastroenterology), along with our emergency and gastroenterology teams, who acted swiftly to stabilize his condition.

🌍 At Anandaloke Hospital, we stand by patients with compassion and prompt medical care—even when they are far from home.

"Hate the disease, not the diseased."

A gentleman residing in a remote corner of coochbehar came all the way to our hospital today. He needed urgent bronchoscopy but was turned away from the few local hospitals due to his HIV status.

We performed this small task today after assuring the patient, and ensuring safety for our team at anandalok. Inspite of wide media coverage about HIV/AIDS and increase in general dialogue about the disease, even now the stigma remains.

It should be our duty to assist such patients and dispell all the myth and misinformation regarding this disease, which continues to be a menace. Only with awareness and kindness, we can progress...

Patient Feedback | A Journey to Recovery 🌿

Mrs. Derba Elizabeth Tooms (64), a resident of Hampshire, UK, was visiting Darjeeling for her holiday when she experienced sudden sharp pain in her lower abdomen and lower back. She promptly came to Anandaloke Multispeciality Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

After detailed investigations, she was diagnosed with acute ureteric colic due to an upper left ureteric calculus with a small left renal calculus. She successfully underwent Left URSL under the expert care of Dr. Biswajit Datta, MS, MCh (Urology) and responded very well to the treatment.

She has been discharged today in stable condition. We sincerely thank her for trusting our team and wish her a healthy, pain-free, and happy future ahead.
