At Izhaar, the mental health initiative of Gargi College, we believe that mental wellbeing is nurtured through everyday acts of care. From 9th to 12th February, Izhaar added a small but meaningful touch to everyday campus life. Handwritten notes of encouragement were placed on Nescafé cups, turning a simple cup of coffee into a moment of reflection and positivity. Through this initiative, we hoped to remind students and faculty alike that even brief moments of kindness can make a difference. The initiative aimed to create small, accessible moments of encouragement in the middle of busy academic days. We are grateful for the enthusiastic participation and appreciation from both students and faculty.

Kindness is a quiet force, simple, universal, and deeply human. It is the small moments of empathy that shape safer, warmer spaces for all of us.
On World Kindness Day, Izhaar, the Mental Health Initiative of Gargi College, interacted with faculty, non-faculty and students across the campus, asking what kindness meant to them and whether they had experienced or expressed an act of kindness recently. These conversations highlighted how compassion, even in its smallest forms, creates meaningful ripples in our community.
Let’s continue choosing understanding, patience and care, today and every day.

Mental health is a topic that deserves conversation not just on World Mental Health Day (10th October 2025), but every single day. At Gargi College, we asked a few students the challenges they faced in their mental health journey and how they overcame it. The consent of all the students featuring in this reel had been taken to share their responses.

The heartfelt responses were truly a reminder that while the definition of mental health may differ for everyone, the core remains the same: we all seek light, and each of us is capable of finding it. Sometimes, we just need to find the switch and they did, and so can you!

On 17th September 2025, Izhaar held its first meeting with the new members, and it was all about connection and comfort! To break the ice, we did a fun “All About Me” activity where each petal represented a part of ourselves, including our strengths, challenges, little joys, and the things that keep us going. 💛 Through this, we not only shared pieces of ourselves but also found common ground, shared laughter, and sparked new conversations.

Profoundly caring and observant, Parisha senses feelings quietly with compassion. She drives people at the same velocity she takes up to near the goal, slowing down to match the pace of others but pulling them up in time to see their achievements with hers.

When you ask, “Will I mess this up?” Parisha replies, “You will, but that’s okay, because that’s learning.” This wisdom of not fearing struggle but taking it up to strive towards what one wants with passion and regulation is Parisha’s way of paving the way endlessly. But even beyond her go-getter personality, she is warm like the coffee she functions on, lively like the sunflowers she adores, and intricately put together like the paintings she makes. Parisha has a way of making subtle things into meaningful ideas of happiness, like the sky she saw on the way home, the cat on the pavement who purred, or the stars she gazes at on a walk with music she syncs her life’s rhymes with.

Charismatic, professional, and determined with thoughtful ideas, seamless management, and the ability to lead with togetherness Parisha is the apt convener for Izhaar. Teenager Parisha, who fell in love with and formed a dream for psychology, is proud of the Parisha who will now imprint Izhaar with novelty in approaches while making the safe space for mental health to be recognised furthermore.

Charvi is truly an old soul in a modern body—someone who finds peace in ghazals and timeless old music, yet adapts effortlessly to today’s fast-paced world. She resonates deeply with every culture she encounters, carrying respect and openness at the core of her personality. With a heart that values traditions and a mind that embraces progress, she strikes a rare balance between retro charm and contemporary confidence. Her ability to respect everyone’s boundaries while still forming meaningful connections makes her stand out. Charvi’s presence feels like a bridge between eras—gentle, graceful, and grounded in values, yet refreshingly modern in her outlook. You can always find her welcoming over a coffee date, something she eagerly looks forward to!

She is someone who brings together dedication, calmness, and compassion in everything she does. Her hardworking nature ensures that responsibilities are handled with commitment and excellence, while her cool-headed approach makes her easy to work with even in challenging situations. She is kind, approachable, and supportive of her peers, which makes collaboration natural and effective.
Brimming with empathy, compassion and an attentive ear, she is as dependable as they come. As the saying goes, “A friend in need is a friend indeed,” and our Co-Convenor truly embodies that spirit. She is someone you can wholeheartedly rely on, whether to share your worries, your dreams, or anything your heart longs to express.

Some people emit light at all times to help people never move towards darkness; Kriti is one of those people. You can count on Kriti to always have your back, she is generous in a way that isn’t burdening or ill layered.

Kriti always accomplishes or succeeds by the sheer work she puts in, never shying away from responsibilities, challenges, or novel changes that are much needed for growth. There is tranquillity in the words she pours for people around her, cheering them on till they are nothing but high spirits. If you ever receive a thought-provoking question in the middle of a random conversation, followed up by an equally random situation, just know it’s Kriti, always inquisitive and eager to learn with childlike enthusiasm, but the sensibility of an adult. The conversations she strikes make you reflect and think, something needed for betterment and achievements.

All this, witty humour, fun facts, anime suggestions, and an unwavering trail of creativity is what the new session's Co-Convener of Izhaar, Kriti, brings to the table, curating a space as welcome as her personality.
