Successful Major Surgery at Subdistrict Hospital Kupwara

A remarkable medical feat achieved at Subdistrict Hospital Kupwara

In a significant development, a 70-year-old female patient with persistent bleeding underwent a complex surgical procedure for a polypoidal growth in her Distal Sigmoid Colon. Despite multiple failed attempts at colonoscopic removal, a dedicated surgical team led by Dr. Rayees Ahmad Dar, Consultant Colorectal and General Surgery, successfully performed an Anterior Resection with Colorectal Anastomosis (hand sewn).

This marks the first time such a major surgery has been conducted at the Subdistrict or District Hospital level, showcasing the exceptional skills and dedication of our medical professionals. The surgical team, including Dr. Jaffer Hussain, Dr. Anil, and the anesthesia team led by Dr. Arif, Dr. Jahangir, Dr. Toyib, along with support staff Nisar Ahmad and Abdul Ahad, demonstrated unwavering commitment to patient care and safety.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the logistic support provided by Medical Superintendent SDH Kupwara, Dr. Mir Mohd Shafee, and CMO Kupwara, Dr. Mohd Ramzan Mir, whose invaluable assistance ensured the success of this milestone surgery.
