MLA Pampore Retired justice Hasnain Masoodi Lays Foundation Stones for Beautification Projects in Pampore.

Pampore, May 6:
MLA Pampore Retired justice Hasnain Masoodi, today laid the foundation stones for several key beautification projects aimed at enhancing the town’s infrastructure and public spaces.
The MLA inaugurated the construction of Pampore Gateway structures at Gallandar and Sempora, along with two public parks at Drangbal and Tulbagh. The projects, estimated to cost around ₹1.5 crore, form part of a comprehensive beautification plan being implemented under his directions to improve the aesthetic appeal and recreational facilities in the constituency.
During the event, it was highlighted that the demand for development of the Jhelum River riverfront was recently placed before the Hon’ble Chief Minister during his visit to Pampore to inspect ongoing developmental works. Responding positively, the Chief Minister assured that the riverfront project would be taken up under the proposed beautification initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Masoodi reiterated his commitment to balanced urban development, improved public amenities and creation of attractive community spaces for residents and visitors alike. Locals welcomed the initiatives, expressing hope that the projects would contribute to Pampore’s tourism potential and overall civic improvement.

BJP Leaders Visit Bereaved Family in Sharshali, Express Condolences
Pulwama, May 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders led by Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi, District President Pulwama, along with senior leader Yasir Bhat, Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, General Secretary Pampore Constituency, and Danish Qadri today visited the residence of the bereaved family of late Younis Ahmad Bhat at Sharshali.
Younis Ahmad Bhat recently lost his life in a tragic incident after a wall collapsed on him while he was demolishing a house in the area.
The BJP delegation extended heartfelt condolences and expressed deep sympathy with the grieving family during this difficult time. The leaders prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the irreparable loss.
“We stand firmly with the family in their moment of grief and pray that Almighty grants them patience, courage and strength,” the leaders said.
Describing the deceased as the sole breadwinner of his family, the BJP leaders expressed concern over the financial distress faced by the family following his untimely demise. They urged the administration to provide immediate relief and necessary support to the bereaved family.

*Most Wanted Lady Drug Peddler Arrested by Anantnag Police along With Contraband*

Anantnag: 5 May 2026:In its sustained and uncompromising crackdown against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved another significant success by apprehending a notorious lady drug peddler involved in multiple narcotics cases.

A police party of Police Post Dialgam had established a routine naka checking point at Laalan Bypass. During checking, one lady was noticed approaching from Bondialgam towards Laalan. On observing the police party, she attempted to flee from the spot, arousing suspicion. However, the alert naka party acted swiftly and tactfully, successfully apprehending her on the spot.

During her personal search, contraband substance, apparently heroin-like in nature, was recovered from her possession. Upon sustained questioning, she identified herself as Shugafta Akhter D/O Mohd Hussain Dar R/O Dangerpora, Anantnag.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 130/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station and investigation has been taken up.

It is pertinent to mention that the arrested woman is a notorious and most-wanted drug peddler, already involved in multiple NDPS cases, and her arrest is being viewed as a major success in the ongoing drive against the drug menace in the district.

Shehjar Trust Organises Drug De-Addiction Awareness Programme Under Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan

As part of the 100 Days Nasha Mukht Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the renowned Shehjar Trust organised an awareness programme on drug de-addiction aimed at promoting a healthy and drug-free society among the youth.

The programme witnessed the participation of prominent scholars, social activists and speakers who highlighted the growing menace of substance abuse and stressed the collective responsibility of society in combating drug addiction.

Among the notable speakers were Mohd Amin Bhat, Director of Youth Bridge Foundation Khalid Hussain Wani, Moulana Sajad Ahmad, and several other distinguished personalities. The speakers delivered powerful and thought-provoking speeches, urging youth to stay away from drugs and adopt positive lifestyles through education, sports and community engagement.

The organisers emphasised that awareness programmes play a vital role in safeguarding young generations and building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah along with his Advisor Jenab Nasir Aslam Wani - Sogami and MLA Pampore Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi on Friday visited Pampore and inspected the construction and development of Jehlum Riverfront Project at Pampore.

The project will play a key role in the protection of the Saffron Town from the overflow of Jehlum during floods and will also lead to beautification of the Jehlum Riverfront in Pampore town.
The work will be completed from Khankah Bagh to Galander through Drangbal and Kadlabal in Pampore Town.

*Pulwama Police Cracks Down on Terror Network; Terrorist Associate Apprehended; Arms & Explosives Recovered*

May 02``In a major breakthrough against terrorist networks, Pulwama Police, in a meticulously planned joint operation with 44 RR Shadimarg and CRPF 183 Bn, successfully apprehended a terrorist associate, delivering a decisive blow to the terror ecosystem in the area.

During the operation at Qasbayar (CB Nath Road), one terrorist associate identified as Mohd Umar Malik S/o Abdul Majeed Malik R/o Kachipora was apprehended by the joint team.

Upon his search, incriminating material in the form of arms and explosives was recovered from his possession, including:
