Hearing loss
Symptoms in Children
Children may not be able to articulate that they are struggling to hear. Parents and caregivers should watch for developmental and behavioral signs.
Infants and Toddlers (0–3 Years):
Lack of response: Does not startle at loud noises, react to voices, or respond to their name by 7–9 months.
Sound localization: Does not turn their head toward the source of a sound by 6 months.
Speech delays: Limited babbling, stopped experimenting with sounds, or failing to say single words like "mama" or "dada" by age one.
Physical signs: Pulling or scratching at ears, which may indicate discomfort or fluid buildup.
