*DC Srinagar Akshay Labroo visits UPHCs of Nishat & Harwan; inspects upgradation works aimed at improving health infrastructure*

SRINAGAR JULY 08:- Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today conducted an on-site review of the infrastructural works at Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) located in Nishat and Harwan areas of the District to take appraisal of the overall health infra available at the two Centres.

The visit was also aimed at to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure upgradation works to further strengthen and improve the patient care facilities ensuring that better medical facilities are provided to the local population.

At Urban Primary Health Centre, Harwan, the DC inspected diagnostic labs, and other sections of the Health Centre. He also inspected the newly installed Digital Computed Radiography machine recently installed under District Capex to provide Digital X-Ray facility to the patients.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Urban Primary Health Centre(UPHC) at Nishat and took stock of the functioning of the facility. The DC also inspected the 2nd floor of the UPHC Nishat which is nearing completion to strengthen the healthcare services at the facility.

While interacting with the senior health functionaries and staff of the Health Centre, the DC laid emphasis on providing better medical facilities to the patients, besides treating them in a compassionate manner. He stressed the importance of accessible and quality healthcare services to urban, rural and tribal populations of the area.

During the visit the DC was accompanied by the Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tahir Sajad, Executive Engineer R&B, Fareed Ahmad , Executive Engineer KPDCL, Abdul MAjeed, Tehsildar North, Syed Shahid, Block Medical Officer, Hazratbal, Dr Abdul Majeed and other concerned.

HelpAge India in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College Srinagar, Block Hazratbal conducted Mental Health Workshop at UPHC Nishat.

In an aim to create awareness about mental health issues, the HelpAge India in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College Srinagar, Block Hazratbal on Thursday (29.05.2025) held a comprehensive mental health session with paramedics and workers of various health institutions of Block Hazratbal. The workshop aimed to sensitize health department employees, including Asha workers, ANMs, doctors and paramedics, was organized at Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Nishat on Thursday. The day-long workshop attended by prominent experts from the medical field, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists saw a fruitful exchange of ideas.

Among the prominent experts were Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohammad Salim Khan, Head, Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Yuman Kawoosa, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Govt. Medical College Srinagar, Dr Mohammad Muzaffar Khan, Clinical Psychologist and the Director of J&K Police drug de-addiction center, Srinagar.

Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohammad Salim Khan stressed on the mental Health of the employees, stating that their overall mental well-being can help them offer their services to the patients in a far better way. Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohammad Salim Khan, who was the guest of honour, also praised HelpAge India for holding seminar on such an important topic & for other Services regarding the benefit of old age people aimed at improving their quality of life. In her speech, Dr Yuman Kawoosa spoke at length on the causes and treatment for diseases like dementia and depression. She also highlighted upon the role and support of families and friends for the patients suffering with dementia or depression. The Director of J&K Police drug de-addiction center, Srinagar, Dr Mohammad Muzaffar Khan briefed the participants on sensitive topics like anxiety, mood disorders besides the importance of Mental Health of Health workers. Dr. Zeenat Farooq, Incharge Block Medical Officer Block Hazratbal concluded the event and appreciated HelpAge India for conducting the said workshop.

HelpAge India thanked Dr. Zeenat Farooq, Incharge Block Medical Officer Hazratbal, Dr. Nasir Ahmad, Zonal Medical Officer UPHC Nishat, Mr. Abdul Rashid, I/C Establishment Block Hazratbal and all the participants for conducting the Mental Health Workshop successfully.

Four students of BSC (Radiology) of Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, Lawaypora namely Mr. Ansub Niyaz, Ms. Misbah Hamid, Ms. Nimrah Bhat and Ms. Ifam Riyaz who were on Clinic Posting at SDH Block Hazratbal have completed their tenure of three months. During this period, they showed positive attitude, dedication towards assignments, willingness to learn and worked to the entire satisfaction of Supervisory Staff. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors and further addition of skills and knowledge in the field of Radiology.

On the occasion of culmination of Jan Aushadhi Diwas – 2025, a function was organised at Seminar Hall of Dept of Community Medicine GMC Srinagar.wherein Prof. (Dr.) S.M.Saleem Khan, Head, Department of Community Medicine, GMC Srinagar emphasised the use of generic medicines.On behalf of PMBI ( Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Bureau Of India) Dr. Fara Shafi, Block Medical Officer Hazratbal was felicitated on the occasion of Jan Ashudi Diwas for running the most successful JanAshudi store at SDH Block Hazratbal .

Republic 🇮🇳 Day Celebrated with patriotic fervor at Sub District Hospital Hazratbal

Srinagar, January 26: The Block Medical Officer Sub District Hospital Hazratbal marked the 76th Republic Day with great fervor and patriotic spirit at its premises in Hazratbal. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the staff and officials of the Block reflecting their commitment to the nation's ideals and values.

The celebrations began with the unfurling of the National Flag by Dr. Fara Shafi Block Medical Officer amid the reverberation of the National Anthem. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Fara Shafi emphasized the importance of unity, dedication and service to the nation. He praised the relentless efforts of the Medical workers, particularly during challenging times, and called upon the staff to continue contributing towards a healthier and stronger India.

The event was attended by staff members from various departments who expressed their dedication to the country and reaffirmed their commitment to serving the people of Kashmir with integrity and compassion.

The Medical also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the unsung heroes of the nation and the healthcare warriors who have been at the forefront of every crisis. The premises echoed with patriotic songs and the tricolor fluttered proudly against the backdrop of the serene Hazratbal inspiring all present to work tirelessly for the progress of the nation.

The Republic Day celebration at SDH Hazratbal served as a reminder of the values enshrined in the Constitution and the responsibility of every citizen to uphold them in their respective fields.

A Day before the eve of inauguration of 100 Days Intensified TB Elimination campaign, Union Joint Secretary Health and Family Welfare Govt of India Ms Meera Srivastava today on 6/12/2024 paid visit to Block Hazratbal. She visited UPHC Nishat and UPHC Hazratbal in order to take the stock of working of the health facilities at grassroot level,ASHA programme,Immunisation and related issues,RCH,BPHU, and appreciated the creativity of a Welness fountain in the midst of the health facility. She was all praises for the BMO Hazratbal and her team of staff members who are working tirelessly and dedicatedly for providing better and better patient care services at Block Hazratbal GMC Srinagar.
