Two very large ASDs ( Hole in heart) closed percutaneously ( through groin) by using 46 mm device ( largest size available)... Both were middle aged females ( 42 y n 35 y).. One patient had undergone Transesophageal echo ( TEE) at other centres, 3 times n was finally referred for open heart surgery... We reassessed n found the rims were just adequate... After discussing with attendants, plan was to do the device closure with the cardiac surgical team ready for support in case of any emergency... With the grace of Almighty the patient underwent successful device closure under transthoracic echo guidance under local anaesthesia and went home without any need for open heart surgery...My sincere thanks to hospital management, Cardiac surgical team headed by Prof A.G Ahangar sb, Dr Showkat shah ( Cardiologist), Anaesthesia team Dr Mashooq, Dr Mubashir and technical staff, Mr Faisal, Mr Azhar, Miss Aiman, Miss Tabiya and Mr Murtaza ..
We are doing such procedures routinely and all are done free to patients under Ayushman Bharat
