CGWC-IMHANS successfully participated in the 5 day training program of "ToT's for intervention and community training in substance use disorder".
Three membered team representing CGWC-IMHANS deliberated on "Importance of Life Skills for prevention of substance use disorder" and "Psychological assessment and management of substance use disorder". The team delivered the content in the 5 day training using modalities like presentation, group activities and other activities that can be replicated in the community settings with target population like teachers and students. The programme was well received by the participants and the content discussed was sought to be carried forward via more trainings by the now trained trainers.

To address the critical shortage of trained professionals in addiction treatment facilities across Jammu and Kashmir, the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, has partnered with the University of Kashmir (KU) to launch a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Addiction Psychology and Rehabilitation Counseling.

This collaborative effort aims to strengthen human resources in the mental health and addiction rehabilitation sectors, ensuring better support and care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders in the region.

The first of its kind course in J&K is the much needed step towards tackling J&Ks massive prevalence of substance use disorders, experts said
