A delegation of the Srinagar Chemists and Distributors Association (SCDA), led by its President Mr. Arshad Hussain Bhat, met Mr. Surinder Tikoo, Registrar, Pharmacy Council of Jammu & Kashmir, on 17 November 2025 at his Jammu Office.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss key issues concerning the pharmacy sector in the Union Territory and to enhance coordination between SCDA and the Pharmacy Council.

Key Points Discussed
1. Reopening of the Renewal Portal
The delegation requested the immediate reopening of the online portal for renewal of pharmacy registration and quick disposal of allied matters.
2. Issuance of Digital ID Cards with QR Codes
As proposed by Registrar J&K pharmacy council regarding issueance of Digital ID Cards with QR Code to all registered pharmacists for instant verification and enhanced authenticity, SCDA appreciated the proposal and extend full cooperation.
3. Establishment of a Pharmacist Job Portal
The need for a centralized job portal was highlighted, aiming to list available and eligible pharmacists to streamline recruitment for pharmacies across the UT. Both Register J&K pharmacy council and SCDA aggreed upon this in principle.
4. Capacity-Building and Educational Programs.
Both SCDA and Register J&K Pharmacy council aggreed that the Pharmacy Council to organize periodic awareness programs, training workshops, and educational sessions to keep pharmacists updated on professional ethics, regulatory guidelines, and emerging best practices.
5. Development of Pharmacy Bhawans in Jammu and Kashmir.
Both Register J&K pharmacy council and SCDA emphasized the importance of establishing Pharmacy Bhawans in both provinces to serve as professional hubs for meetings, training, seminars, and public outreach activities.

Conclusion
The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Arshad Hussain Bhat, President SCDA, who expressed his gratitude to Mr. Surinder Tikoo, Registrar, Pharmacy Council of J&K, for his patient hearing and for positively approving many of the proposals presented by SCDA.
