Srinagar Police Seeks Public Assistance in Identification of Accused Involved in Vehicle Theft

Srinagar, November 1, 2025:

Upon receipt of written complaint pertaining to the theft of Alto vehicle bearing registration no. 4553 JK05K , case FIR No. 70/2025 under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Police Station Shalteng.

During the course of investigation, footage was analyzed, which shows the suspected accused.
In order to identify the individual(s) involved, the public is requested to assist by sharing any relevant information that may help in the investigation.

Anyone with information is requested to contact Police Station Shalteng or call PCR Srinagar.
The identity of the informant will be kept confidential.

Srinagar Police is committed to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and appreciates public cooperation in this matter.

In a spirited tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary, Srinagar Police organized a large-scale event — “Run for Unity” — from Ghanta Ghar as part of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations. The event aimed to promote national integration, unity, and communal harmony among the youth.

Over 500 students from various schools and colleges across Srinagar enthusiastically participated in the run, showcasing immense patriotic fervour and discipline.

The run was flagged off by ADGP Armed, Shri Anand Jain, IPS , in the august presence of IGP Kashmir, Shri V.K. Birdi, IPS; DIG CKR Srinagar, Shri Rajiv Pandey, IPS.

The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS , Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, who commended the enthusiasm and cooperation of all participating institutions and local stakeholders in making the event a grand success.

Adding to the charm of the event, renowned filmstar Mukesh Rishi graced the occasion as Guests of Honour, inspiring students to embrace sports, discipline, and fitness as integral parts of life.

Addressing the gathering, ADGP Armed Shri Anand Jain lauded the efforts of Srinagar Police for organizing such community-oriented initiatives that strengthen the spirit of unity and nationhood. IGP Kashmir Shri V.K. Birdi appreciated the active participation of youth, noting that such engagements build stronger bonds between police and society.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where certificates and mementos were presented to participants and winners, followed by refreshments for all attendees.

In celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), a grand Plantation Drive was organized by Srinagar Police across all units to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

The event aimed to promote environmental sustainability and spread awareness about the importance of unity—both among people and between humanity and nature.

The plantation drive was held at District Police Headquarters, District Police Lines, all Police Stations, Police Posts and other establishments of the District Police Srinagar.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from all Police officials and other stakeholders with the aim of preserving the environment.

The programme commenced with a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, followed by the administration of the “Rashtriya Ekta Pledge”, reaffirming the participants’ commitment to national integration and environmental protection. Afterwards, a large-scale tree plantation activity was conducted, during which over hundrred saplings of various species were planted across the premises and nearby areas of Police units.

The participants also engaged in interactive sessions and awareness talks highlighting the significance of biodiversity, afforestation, and sustainable living. Posters and banners carrying messages on unity and environmental preservation were displayed to encourage public participation and awareness.

This Plantation Drive on Ekta Diwas served as a meaningful reminder that true unity lies in caring for each other and our environment. Through such collective actions, the community continues to move towards a greener, cleaner, and more united India.

As part of the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), a Photo exhibition on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, was organized at the District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar.

The event was organized by the Srinagar Police to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel and to highlight his pivotal role in the unification of India, which witnesses enthusiatic participation from students of various schools of the District.

SP Headquarters, Sh. Shah Umar, DySP Headquarters, Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, DySP DAR Sh. Mohd Rafee and other senior officers of the District were present at the event, actively conducting a series of lectures of Sardar Patel along side the photo exhibition.

The exhibition showcased rare photographs and informative panels depicting different phases of Sardar Patel’s life — from his early years and leadership in the freedom struggle to his decisive role in integrating princely states into the Indian Union.
It curated visual journey through the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (1875-1950), exploring his early years, his role in India’s freedom struggle, his contribution as Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of independent India, and his seminal work in the integration of the princely states.

The photographs on display include rare archival images, key moments of his leadership, his initiatives for national unity, and his lasting impact on modern India.

The exhibition aimed to evoke reflection on the values of unity, discipline, patriotism and nation-building that Sardar Patel championed and emphasized his vision for the youth to imbibe the values of integrity, discipline, and patriotism.

Students took keen interest in the exhibition and interacted with officers to learn more about Sardar Patel’s legacy and his contribution to building a united India. Educational pamphlets and booklets on Sardar Patel’s life were also distributed among the students.

The event concluded with a pledge for national unity and integrity, reaffirming the collective resolve to uphold the ideals for which Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stood.

To mark the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), Srinagar Police organized "Ekta Pledge” ceremonies across District Police Headquarters, District Police District Police Headquarters, all Police Stations, Police Posts, and other units of the District Police.
The event was held in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India’s unity and integrity.

The pledge ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and personnel at all levels. The Ekta Pledge was administered across all units and offices by senior and supervisory officers of the District Police. All Officers and Officials solemnly pledged to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, reaffirming their dedication to upholding peace and harmony in society.

Srinagar, October 30, 2025:

In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel marking Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, District Police Srinagar organised two major events "Run for Unity”* and a seminar on *National Security* in collaboration with the students of Islamia College, Hawal Srinagar, and Gandhi College, Baba Demb Srinagar.

The Run for Unity was flagged off from Islamia College, Hawal, and passed through Nowhatta, Jamia Masjid Road, and Khanyar before culminating at Gandhi College, Baba Demb Srinagar. Faculty members, students from both colleges, and officers and officials of Srinagar Police actively participated in the event, symbolising the spirit of unity and togetherness.

Following the Unity Run, a seminar on National Security was held at Gandhi College, Baba Demb Srinagar. Students from both colleges spoke on the importance of national security and its role in safeguarding the nation’s integrity.
During the seminar, speakers highlighted the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel unity, integrity, and national security and discussed their relevance in modern nation-building.

Prof. Dr. Tahmeena Yousuf, Principal, Islamia College and In-charge Principal, Gandhi College, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In her address, she emphasised the importance of unity and national security and appreciated the growing bond between Police and students in organising such meaningful events. Other faculty members and staff from both institutions were also present.

Senior police officers, including SP North Srinagar, SDPO MR, SDPO Khanyar Dr. Azhar Rashid and all SHOs, DOs, PSIs, and police officials of the North Zone Srinagar Police participated in the events.

In his address, SP North Srinagar lauded the active participation of students and emphasised the crucial role of youth in promoting unity and peace, describing Sardar Patel as a true symbol of integrity and strength for the nation. At the conclusion of the programme, cash prizes, trophies, and certificates were distributed among the participating students in recognition of their enthusiasm and contributions.

The successful conduct of both events reflected the enduring ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and further strengthened the bond between District Police Srinagar and the student community.

As a part of the public outreach programme of J&K Government, Srinagar Police observed Lok Darbar-cum-Awareness programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas) across various Police Stations and Police Posts of the city.
In the 2nd phase for the month of October 2025, the event was organized in (08) Police Stations & (03) Police Posts of the district which include:

PS Maisuma
PS Sangam
PS Rainawari
PS Rajbagh
PS Soura
PS Shaltang
PS Womens
PP Qamarwari
PP Khunmoh
PP Hazratbal

The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers & juridictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc.

During these Lok Darbar cm awareness programmes of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas), participants highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their greivances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues, floating population etc. some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, electricity etc were also recorded.

District Police Srinagar stated, Lok Darbar Cum Awareness Programme on New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas) is a platform for us connect directly with the people we serve. It is our duty to ensure that every citizen feels heared and that their grievances are addressed promptly. We are committed to building a safer and more secure environment for all.

Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society. Community members assured their cooperation for enhancing police-public relationship.

By organising Lok Darbar cm Awareness programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas), Srinagar Police reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level in the district and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances.

Srinagar Police today organized a Pipping Ceremony at the District Police Headquarters (DPO) Srinagar to felicitate the officers newly confirmed to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The officers Sh. Abhishek Kaith, Dr. Barleen, and Ms. Sonika Verma were formally adorned with their new rank insignias by Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, marking the successful completion of their probationary period.

The ceremony was attended by SP Headquarters Sh. Shah Umar, DySP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, and other senior officers of District Police Srinagar.

While congratulating the officers, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy lauded their professionalism, sincerity, and commitment to duty. He reminded them that the new rank brings with it greater responsibilities and urged them to continue serving the public with integrity, discipline, and compassion.
