Srinagar, January 10, 2026:

Srinagar Police, in coordination with Tourist Police Station Srinagar, conducted a verification and inspection drive across the city to ensure compliance with statutory norms by homestays, hotels, and guest houses.

During the drive, several establishments were found operating without valid registration from the competent authorities. These included hotels Essar, ABC Residency, Gani, and Aksa, and homestays Al Habib, Golden Moon, and Divine Holiday.

Fines were imposed on the violators for operating without mandatory registration. Additionally, preventive action under Sections 126/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) shall be initiated against the owners of all such unregistered establishments.

Srinagar Police have advised all owners and operators of homestays, hotels, and guest houses to strictly comply with the prescribed legal requirements and ensure timely registration with the concerned authorities to avoid legal action.

Such verification and enforcement drives will continue in the future to ensure adherence to regulations and to promote safe, lawful, and responsible tourism in the district.

As a part of the public outreach programme of J&K Government, Srinagar Police observed Lok Darbar cm Awareness Programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas) across various Police Stations and Police Posts of the city. In the 1st phase for the month of January 2026, the event was organized in *(11)* Police Stations of the district which include :

PS Batamaloo

PS Kothibagh
PS Parimpora
PS M.R.Gunj
PS Shergarhi
PS Zaidbal
PS Kralkhud

The meetings were chaired by supervisory officers & jurisdictional police officers and were attended by civil society members including members of Auqaf Committees, members of Traders Federation and Transporters, Panchayti Raj members, Religious Preachers, Mohallah elders etc.

During these Lok Darbar cm awareness programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas), participants highlighted various issues of public importance and put forth their greivances which were within the domain of district police like illegal narcotics trafficking, sand mafia, traffic issues, floating population etc. some of the issues highlighted pertaining to civil administration like improvement and maintenance of roads, sanitation, public health, electricity etc were also recorded.

District Police Srinagar utilizes Lok Darbar (Thana Diwas) as a platform to connect directly with the people that we serve. It is our duty to ensure that every citizen feels heared and that their grievances are addressed promptly. We are committed to building a safer and more secure environment for all.

Participants were urged to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti national and anti-social elements to maintain peace and order in the society. Community members assured their cooperation for enhancing the police-public relationship.

By organising Lok Darbar cm awareness programme of New Criminal Laws (Thana Diwas), Srinagar Police reinforces its commitment to improve transparency and accountability in policing at grassroot level in the district and to develop confidence and synergy between police and citizens for effective redressal of grievances.

Srinagar Police organized a farewell ceremony to honour two retiring officials Assitant Sub-Inspector Mohi-ud-din and Head Constable Sardar Ali at the District Police Headquarters. Both officers have rendered years of dedicated and commendable service to the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, lauded the retirees for their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and integrity throughout their careers. He expressed his deep appreciation for their valuable contributions and extended his best wishes for their post-retirement life.

The event was also attended by SP Headquarters Sh. Umar Shah, DySP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, CPO Jaswant Raj, AO Imtiyaz Ahmad and other officers, who joined in expressing their gratitude and admiration for the retiring personnel.

As a token of recognition, SSP Srinagar presented Certificates of Appreciation to both officers, acknowledging their dedicated service and significant role in maintaining law and order over the years.

Srinagar, December 24, 2025 :

In its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from the society and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics trade, Srinagar Police has attached double-storeyed residential house and double-storeyed shopping complex, along with land measuring 1 Kanal and 4 marlas, worth approximately *Rs 3 crores*.

The aforementioned properties belong to a notorious drug peddler namely Ajaz Ahmad Mir s/o Late Ali Ahmad R/o Palpora Noorbagh, who is involved in case FIR No. 201/2022 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station Safakadal.

The attachment was carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused person had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities. Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrate, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the said property till further orders.

Srinagar Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to combat drug trafficking and to dismantle the financial networks that sustain the narcotics trade by targeting both offenders and the proceeds of crime, strictly in accordance with law. Srinagar Police, in close coordination with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), conducted Area Security/Anti-Sabotage (AST) operations around major vital installations and sensitive locations in the North Zone of Srinagar, with the aim of strengthening preventive security measures and countering any potential threats.

The purpose of the joint security exercise is to reinforce the overall security grid, enhance operational preparedness, and ensure the safety and security of critical infrastructure as well as the general public.

During the operation, thorough checking and sanitisation of the identified areas were carried out, along with a comprehensive review of existing security arrangements.

Such joint security exercises will continue to be conducted periodically as part of proactive measures to deter potential threats and reinforce public confidence.

In its continued crackdown on drug trafficking and assets generated through narcotics trade, Police Station Rainawari today attached a double-storey residential house valued at approximately *₹1 crore* under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The attached property comprises a double-storey residential house built on 12 marlas of land, situated at Sultan Mohalla, Saidakadal, belonging to the accused Nisar Ahmad Bota, S/o Mohd Shafi Bota, R/o Sultan Mohalla, Saidakadal. The accused is involved in FIR No. 39/2022 registered at Police Station Rainawari under Sections 8/20–29 of the NDPS Act.

During the course of investigation, it was established that the said property had been acquired through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities. Consequently, the property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The attachment proceedings were conducted strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure and in the presence of two independent witnesses.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the said property until further orders.

Srinagar Police reiterates its commitment to dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers and taking stringent legal action against those involved in the narcotics trade.

In its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from the society and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics trade, Srinagar Police has attached a double-storey residential house along with cowshed, belonging to notorious drug peddlers namely Gh. Nabi Wani S/o late Ali Mohammad Wani and his son Parvaiz Ahmad Wani, residents of Karnabal Panzinara, valued at approximately *Rs 1.2 crores*.

The accused persons are involved in case FIR No. 81/2025 U/S 8/20,29 of NDPS Act of Police Station Shalteng.

The attachment was carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities.
Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the said property till further orders.

In its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from the society and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics trade, Srinagar Police has attached a double-storey residential house on 8 marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to notorious drug peddler namely Basit Bilal Dar S/o Bilal Ahmad Dar, R/o Wantpora, Eidgah, Srinagar, valued at approximately *Rs 1 Crore* .

The accused person is involved in case FIR No. 59/2024 under Sections 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Nowhatta and FIR No. 114/2025 under Sections 8/22–29 of NDPS Act of Police Station Safakadal.

The attachment was carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused Basit Bilal Dar had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities.
Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the said property till further orders.

Srinagar, December 18, 2025:

In a significant action against the drug menace, Srinagar Police have attached a double-storey residential house along with 12.5 marlas of land, valued at approximately ₹𝟭.𝟲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗲, belonging to a notorious drug peddler.

The attachment was carried out by Police Station Nowgam in connection with FIR No. 128/2022 registered under Sections 8/22–29 of the NDPS Act at PS Nowgam, wherein a substantial quantity of Codeine bottles was recovered from the accused Liyaqat Ali Bhat S/o Bashir Ahmad Bhat R/o Auqaf Chowk, Kenihama, Nowgam, Srinagar.

During the course of investigation, it was established that the said property had been acquired through illegal proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking. Consequently, the property was attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, after obtaining due approval from the competent authority.

The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class, BK Pora, along with independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the attached property.

Srinagar Police reiterate their firm commitment to take stringent action against drug peddlers and to dismantle the financial backbone of narcotics networks through lawful attachment of illegally acquired assets. The general public is urged to cooperate by sharing credible information to help eliminate the drug menace from society.

Srinagar, December 17, 2025:

In its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and the financial networks supporting the narcotics trade, Srinagar Police attached an immovable property of a notorious drug peddler worth approximately ₹1.5 crores under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with a case registered at Police Station Shalteng.

The action has been taken in FIR No. 75/2025 U/S 8/20 & 29 NDPS Act, following a detailed financial investigation conducted in accordance with Chapter V-A of the NDPS Act.

During the investigation, a comprehensive inquiry into the assets of the accused and his family members was carried out. Examination of revenue records, property documents, field verification reports, valuation inputs, and statements of concerned persons revealed that a two-storey residential house, constructed during 2018–2019, was acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.

It was established that the known and lawful income of the accused and his family members was insufficient to justify the acquisition and construction of the said property. The source of funds was found to be unexplained, disproportionate, and directly linked to narcotics-related activities.

Accordingly, freezing orders under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act have been issued, prohibiting the sale, transfer, mortgage, or creation of any third-party interest in the attached property until further orders from the Competent Authority. The freezing order was duly served upon the affected persons in the presence of independent witnesses.

Srinagar Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and will continue to take stringent legal action, including attachment and freezing of illegally acquired properties, to dismantle the financial backbone of the narcotics trade.
