The National Medical Commission (NMC) has mandated that all doctors must write prescriptions legibly, preferably in capital letters, to ensure patient safety and reduce medication errors

The most common causes of prescription errors include incomplete prescriptions (58.5%), illegible handwriting (18.3%), and wrong dosages (11%).

Prescription and medication errors in India cause an estimated 7,000 to over 30,000 deaths annually, with some estimates suggesting much higher.

Representation Seeking Expeditious Completion of Long-Pending Recruitment Process for Drug and Food Control Department, J&K

We respectfully seek the kind and urgent attention of the competent authorities towards the long-pending recruitment being conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for the Drug and Food Control Department, Jammu & Kashmir.

It is submitted that approximately 10–12 posts, including those of Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Assistant, and Drug Control Officer, were advertised in the year 2021. However, nearly five years have elapsed, and the recruitment process remains incomplete.
A large number of qualified and eligible candidates continue to await the release of the final selection lists for the posts of Laboratory Assistant and Laboratory Technician. Furthermore, the interviews for the posts of Drug Control Officer and Assistant Food Analyst, for which the written examinations were conducted more than a year ago, are yet to be scheduled.
This prolonged delay is not merely an issue of employment. It has serious implications for the effective functioning of the Drug and Food Control Department, which plays a critical role in regulatory enforcement, quality control, and safeguarding public health. The department is already facing an acute shortage of technical manpower, and the continued delay in recruitment further burdens its operational capacity.
In view of the above, we humbly request the concerned authorities to kindly expedite the pending recruitment process and ensure the early declaration of results and conduct of interviews, in the larger interest of both aspirants and public health administration in Jammu & Kashmir.
We shall remain highly obliged for a prompt and favourable consideration of this genuine grievance.
