*Authorities Seal Five Illegal Dental Labs in South Kashmir’s Pulwama, CMO Declines to Reveal Names*

Pulwama, Feb 2, KNT: Authorities in Pulwama have shut down five unauthorized dental laboratories, including those in Murran and Main Town, for operating without valid licenses. The crackdown follows complaints regarding the unhygienic conditions and the employment of unqualified technical staff at these facilities.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Pulwama, Dr. Tehmena, told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the action was taken after multiple complaints were received. She revealed that some of these labs were even operating out of residential houses, prompting officials to consider legal proceedings not only against the lab owners but also the landlords who provided them space.

Dr. Tehmena, however, refrained from disclosing the names of the sealed labs, citing concerns that publicizing them could lead to ‘chaos’. She emphasized that dental labs are responsible for manufacturing artificial teeth and dental covers, making it essential for them to meet hygiene and qualification standards.

She assured that further investigations are underway and that strict action will be taken against violators to ensure public health and safety. [KNT]

*How Parents' Screen Time Affects Children's Screen Habits*
In today's digital world, children are spending more time on screens than ever before. While many parents worry about their children's screen time, research suggests that a major contributing factor is the parents' own mobile phone usage.

1. The Influence of Parental Behavior
Children learn by observing their parents. If a child frequently sees their parents engrossed in a smartphone, they are likely to imitate the same behavior. This creates a cycle where excessive screen time becomes a normalized habit for the entire family.

2. Reduced Parent-Child Interaction
Excessive phone use by parents can lead to reduced direct communication and engagement with their children. When parents are distracted by screens, they may miss opportunities for meaningful conversations, playtime, or outdoor activities, leading children to turn to screens for entertainment.

3. Emotional Disconnection
Studies show that when parents are constantly on their phones, children may feel ignored or less valued. This emotional disconnect can lead children to seek comfort in digital devices, leading to increased screen time.

4. Setting Unclear Boundaries
Parents often set screen time limits for their children, but if they themselves do not follow these rules, it sends a mixed message. Children may resist screen restrictions if they see their parents continuously using devices.

5. The Role of Digital Addiction
Many parents unintentionally develop a dependence on mobile phones due to work, social media, or entertainment. This behavior gets passed down to children, who then develop their own screen addictions at an early age.

How Parents Can Set a Healthy Example
Practice What You Preach: Reduce your own screen time if you want your child to do the same.
Create Screen-Free Zones: Designate areas like the dining table or bedrooms as tech-free spaces.
Engage in Offline Activities: Encourage outdoor play, reading, and family time without digital distractions.
Use Parental Controls Wisely: Instead of just restricting children's screen use, guide them towards quality digital content.
Schedule ‘No-Screen’ Family Time: Dedicate daily or weekly hours where all family members stay off screens and engage with each other.
Conclusion
Parents play a crucial role in shaping their children's screen habits. By managing their own screen use and engaging more with their children, they can create a healthier, more balanced digital lifestyle for the whole family.
