The theme of World TB Day 2024 - ‘Yes! We can end TB!’ – conveys a message of hope that getting back-on-track to turn the tide against the TB epidemic is possible through high level leadership, increased investments and faster uptake of new WHO recommendations. Following the commitments made by Heads of State at the UN High Level meeting in 2023 to accelerate progress to end TB, this year's focus shifts to turning these commitments into tangible actions.

Today, on , we honor the tireless efforts of scientists and healthcare workers dedicated to ending this preventable disease.

Here are 5 tips to help you sleep better ⬇️

🔹 Be consistent. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning, including on the weekends.
🔹 If possible, make your sleeping area quiet, dark, relaxing and at a comfortable temperature.
🔹 Limit your use of electronic devices, such as TVs, computers and smartphones, before sleeping.
🔹 Avoid large meals, caffeine and alcohol before bedtime.
🔹 Get some exercise. Being physically active during the day can help you fall asleep more easily at night.

On 17th June, 2013 a CME on TB Preventive Treatment was organized at GMC Srinagar under JEET 2.0 by Centre for Health Research and Innovation. The CME was attended by Prof.(Dr.) Surya Kant,Chairman , North Zone TB Task Force, NTEP India, Prof.(Dr) Naveed Nazir Shah , Chairman State Task Force Committee NTEP J&K & Prof. and head Dept. of chest medicine, Prof.(Dr) Mohammad Saleem Khan , Prof. and head Dept. of SPM, GMC Srinagar, Dr Tehjeena Jameel, DTO Srinagar.The CME was also attended by HoDs and other faculty members of various departments of GMC Srinagar,JEET and NTEP staff of Tuberculosis Unit DTC Srinagar.

The CME commenced with the welcome address and introduction by Mr. Ashaq Ahmad Lone District Lead, JEET followed by the opening remarks by Dr. Yasmeen Jabeen, another session was taken by Prof.(Dr.) Surya Kant enlightened with overview of Tuberculosis.

Another session was taken by Dr. Maheen Lateef on Target Population, Dr. Abdul Rouf take next session on Diagnosis of TB Infection, Prof.(Dr) Naveed Nazir Shah enlightened with importance of TB Preventive Treatment, Prof.(Dr.)Mohammad Saleem Khan take another session on role of medical colleges in TPT.

At the conclusion of the event Dr. Tehjeena Jameel DTO Srinagar presented token of appreciation to all guest speakers and Dr Zahid Sarfaraz Khan, state lead JEET presented the vote of thanks to Principle/Dean ,GMC Srinagar and all for their participation & support to make the event a success.

CME on Programmatic Management of TB Preventive Treatment held at SKIMS Soura Srinagar.

A CME on Programmatic Management of TB Preventive Treatment held at SKIMS Soura on 27th December, 2023 under Joint Effort for Elimination of TB (2.0) by Centre for Health Research and innovation (CHRI) & District TB Centre Srinagar with the support from SKIMS Soura Srinagar. The aim of the CME was to give a platform to all important stakeholders to work together for a TB Free society as the “clock is ticking”. As we all know Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has made the commitment at the Global level to eradicate TB in India by 2025 five years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) target of 2030. TB cannot be eradicated without the participation from all stakeholders.

The National Strategic Plan proposes a Detect-Treat-Prevent-Build approach and scaling up TPT would be key to hasten the rate of decline in TB incidence from 2.5% at present to 10% required annually. TB Preventive Treatment is a critical component of the National Strategic Plan(2017-2024) for Ending TB in India by 2025.

Koul, Director, SKIMS Soura & Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, Prof. (Dr) Naveed Nazir Shah Chairman State Task Force NTEP J&K/HOD Pulmonary Medicine, GMC Srinagar/Chairman Core Committee (NTEP) GMC Srinagar, Dr Adfar Yaseen State TB Officer Kashmir, Dr Tehjeena Jamil District TB Officer Srinagar, Prof.(Dr) Fayaz Ahmad Sofi Professor and Head General Medicine SKIMS Soura,Prof( Dr.) Bashir Fomda HOD Microbiology, Prof( Dr. ) Bashir Ahmad Charoo Professor/HOD Paediatrics, Prof( Dr.) Cimona lyn Saldanha Professor/HOD O.B.G SKIMS Soura,Prof (Dr. )Ajaz Malik Professor/HOD General Surgery ,Prof (Dr). Ajum Fazili Professor/HOD Community medicine JEET 2.0 staff ,NTEP Staff and faculty of Respiratory Medicine ,General medicine & microbiology SKIMS Soura.

The CME commenced with the welcome address and introduction by Mr. Ashaq Ahmad Lone , District Lead JEET 2.0. followed by the opening remarks by Prof.(Dr) Parvaiz A. Koul Director SKIMS Soura.He has stressed that we need to put all efforts to eradicate TB from the society because Honourable PM of India has made a commitment at the global level to eradicate TB in India by 2025 and TB Preventive Treatment can play an important role.
The first technical session regarding “Overview of TB Infection” was taken by Dr Adfar Yaseen State TB Officer, Kashmir. She has presented an overview, how TPT is important pillar of National strategic Plan to eradicate TB in India by 2025 and also informed the present TB Free status of the Kashmir division.
The next session was taken by Dr. Suhail Mantoo Associate Prof. General Medicine SKIMS Soura regarding Guidelines & importance for Programmatic Management of TB Preventive Treatment. He has given a detailed PPT regarding cascade of TB Cases finding and TPT, target population for TB Preventive Treatment, Tests for TB Infection and significance of TB Preventive Treatment.

Another session was taken by Dr. Farhana Siraj Associate Prof. General Medicine, SKIMS Soura regarding TB Preventive TreatmeInfection,ion and regimen options. She has discussed in detail evidences on TPT, TPT Regimen with doses and emergence of drug resistance following TPT.

Next session was taken by Dr. Fayaz A. Bhat Assistant Prof. General Medicine, SKIMS Soura on the Role of medical colleges in TB Preventive Treatment .During his session he has discussed in detail how medical colleges can play their role in TB Preventive Treatment and in other activities of the NTEP.
The closing remarks was presented by Prof.(Dr.) Naveed Nazir Shah .He has emphasized that TB Preventive Treatment is an important component of the National TB Programme and medical colleges can paly an important role for the counselling and initiating TB Preventive Treatment among the comorbid house hold contacts.

Prof.(Dr.) Fayaz Ahmad Sofi Professor & HOD General Medicine, SKIMS Soura also shared his observations regarding Tuberculosis and TB Preventive Treatment.
After this session a token of appreciation was presented to all the guest speakers and at the end Dr Zahid State Lead JEET 2.0 presented vote of thanks to all stake holders for their support to make the event a successful.

Today on 19th December, 2023 a training under Joint Effort for Elimination of TB (JEET 2.0) was organized by Centre for Health Research and Innovation & District TB Centre Srinagar/Ganderbal on Programmatic Management of TB Preventive Treatment with MLHPs of block Ganderbal ,Wakura & Lar held at Chief Medical Office, Ganderbal in which Dr Tehjeena Jamil District TB Officer Srinagar/Ganderbal, Dr Asifa MO NTEP & Mr Ashaq Ahmad Lone District Lead JEET 2.0 were among the main resource persons.

The training started with the introduction by Mr Ashaq Ahmad Lone District Lead JEET followed by pre test.The first technical session was taken by Dr. Tehjeena Jameel District TB Officer Srinagar/Ganderbal regardingBasics of TB.Another session was taken by Dr. Asifa regarding Implementation strategy and next session was taken by Dr Tehjeena Jamil regarding Guidelines & Importance of Programmatic Management of TB Preventive Treatment. A question answer session was also held.

A concluding session was taken by Dr Afroza Shah Chief Medical Office Ganderbal regarding the importance of proper counselling.At the end of the training District Lead JEET presented vote of thanks to Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal and other for the support to make the event successful.

Today on 16th November, 2023 under JEET 2.0 Centre for Health Research and innovation (CHRI) & District TB Centre Srinagar/Ganderbal with the support from ZMO Zone Batamalo organised a training programme on Programmatic Management of TB Preventive Treatment(PMTPT) at UPHC Batamaloo. Dr Tehjeena Jamil DTO Srinagar/Ganderbal, Dr Maheen Lateef, Medical Officer DTC Srinagar, Dr Salma ZMO Zone Zadibal, Mr Ashaq Ahmad Lone District Lead JEET & Mr Mushtaq Ahmad STLS TU 1st were among the resource persons.

The training was attended by FMPHWs/MPHWs/MLHP and Zone Batamaloo(TU 1st).

The training commenced with the welcome address and introduction by Mr. Ashaq Ahmad Lone District Lead, JEET 2.0 followed by pre - test questionnaire session.

The first technical session was taken by Dr Tehjeena Jamil DTO Srinagar/Ganderbal regarding basics of TB.

The another session was taken by Dr Maheen Latif, Medical Officer DTC Srinagar regarding implementation strategy.

The 3rd session regarding Guidelines of TB Preventive Treatment and importance was taken by Dr Tehjeena Jamil DTO Srinagar/Ganderbal
