Neurosurgery - a 1 year female patient presented with a huge swelling at the back of head since birth. Scan showed congenital defect in subcoccipital bone with cerebellar tissue herniating into the sac.

Patient underwent successful surgery and was discharged in a healthy state.

story.

This is a young 29 year female who developed gradually progressing back pain followed by weakness in both lower limb. at the time of presentation in hospital she was bed ridden and could just move her legs.(lower limb power3/5)

Her mri scan showed dorsal spine (d7-8 level) epidural collection with involvement of posterior spinal elements.
She underwent surgery - laminectomy and evacuation of epidural collection which on pathological evaluation confirmed tubercular infection.

She made excellent recovery in postoperative period and is now able to walk independently and do her routine work.

Tuberculosis is endemic in India and spine tb can have serious effect. Adequate and timely treatment could be life saving for the patients.

# Brain_tumour story
A young patient presented with bilateral hearing loss & imbalance while walking. He had multiple congenital skin spots on front and back.
On evaluation he was found to be having bilateral cp angle schwanomma- larger on left side.
The patient underwent surgery under Neuromonitoring guidance for facial nerve.
Postoperative he recovered successfully without any neurological deficit.

A 35 year old male patient referees with history of new onset seizures. On evaluation MRI showed right side brain tumour ( frontal convexity meningioma)
Patient underwent successful surgery and remained seizure free post surgery.

Follow up MRI at 3 months reveals complete tumour excision and no recurrence.

A 30 year old young male presented with history of seizures due to underlying brain tumour. He underwent surgery and completed excision of the malignant tumour (GBM, gr4).
Patient recovered well without any deficit.

Tumour.

A 45 year female came with both lower limb weakness & inability to stand since a week. Her MRI scan showed an intradural tumour in the dorsal spine compressing the cord.
Patient was operated successfully and now has normal power in both lower limbs.

# Vestibular schwanomma/ CP angle tumours are benign tumours causing hearing loss and gait disturbance (walking imbalance).

Their location near the brain stem and in close association with facial nerve makes it challenging to remove surgically.

# Pediatric brain tumours

*Brain tumours in a paediatric patient can have significant effect on the child as well as the family.
*Their diagnosis is usually delayed as they present with vomiting which is attributed to stomach related issues.

*Once diagnosed they need early surgical intervention and tumour excision followed by adjuvant therapy based on biopsy report.

Here is a case of 6 year old child with similar tumour who underwent successful surgical excision of the tumour and made excellent recovery.

# Large scalp tumours can cause cosmetic disfigurement along with symptoms like persistent headache.

This is a case of 20 year old college student who had stopped going to college because of a gradually enlarging scalp swelling at the back of his head.
He underwent surgery and the scalp tumour was excised completely. He made good recovery and is back to his routine life.

Here is a case of brain abscess in a 13 year old child who came in a state of altered sensorium with history of fever and ear discharge since a month.

With emergency surgery and adequate antibiotics patient recovered fully.
