Why awareness is required ?
- Colorectal cancer is the Third most common cancer (10% of total) in men and is second most common (9.4% of all) cancer in women worldwide. Annually around 6 lacs people die of colorectal cancer worldwide.

Early detection / diagnosis is the key..

Screening Colonoscopy is recommended (in USA and many other countries) for early detection of Colorectal cancer

March is celebrated as "Colorectal cancer awareness month" in USA...

Why awareness is required ?

Early detection / diagnosis is the key..

Screening Colonoscopy is recommended (in USA and many other countries) for early detection of Colorectal cancer :
For average risk Individual...
(1) People at average risk should start regular screening at age 45.
(2) People who are in good health and expected to live at least more 10 years should continue regular screening through the age of 75.

For *higher risk* for colorectal cancer
People :
- at higher risk for colorectal cancer may need to start screening before age 45. They may also need to be screened more often or get specific tests.
(1) People at higher risk are those with
A strong family history of colorectal cancer or certain types of polyps
(2) A personal history of colorectal cancer or certain types of polyps
(3) A personal history of inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease)
(4) A family history of a hereditary syndrome such as familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) or Lynch syndrome
(5) A history of radiation to the abdomen (belly) or pelvis to treat a prior cancer
