ભારતમાં, આરોગ્ય ક્ષેત્રે તેમના યોગદાનને શ્રદ્ધાંજલિ આપવા માટે, ડો. બિધાનચંદ્ર રોયના સન્માનમાં, 01 જુલાઈ 1991ના રોજ રાષ્ટ્રીય ડૉક્ટર્સ દિવસની ઉજવણી કરવામાં આવી હતી. જુલાઈ 01 એ તેમની મૃત્યુ અને જન્મજયંતિ છે જે એક જ તારીખે થાય છે.

ડૉ. બિધાન ચંદ્ર રોય (01 જુલાઈ 1882 - 01 જુલાઈ 1962) એક પ્રખ્યાત ચિકિત્સક, એક શિક્ષણશાસ્ત્રી, એક સ્વાતંત્ર્ય સેનાની, એક સામાજિક કાર્યકર અને રાજકારણી હતા. તેમણે પશ્ચિમ બંગાળમાં 14 વર્ષ મુખ્યમંત્રી તરીકે પણ સેવા આપી (1948 - 1962). તેમને 04 ફેબ્રુઆરી 1961ના રોજ સર્વોચ્ચ ભારતીય નાગરિક પુરસ્કાર, ભારત રત્નથી નવાજવામાં આવ્યા હતા.

તેમણે લોકો માટે તેમના જીવનનું યોગદાન આપ્યું, ઘણાની સારવાર કરી અને લાખો લોકોને પ્રેરણા આપી. વધુમાં, તેઓ મહાત્મા ગાંધીના અંગત ચિકિત્સક પણ હતા.

યોગ એ એક શારીરિક, માનસિક અને આધ્યાત્મિક પ્રથા છે જેનો ઉદ્દભવ ભારતમાં થયો છે.ભારતના વડા પ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ 2014માં યુએનના તેમના સંબોધનમાં 21 જૂનની તારીખ સૂચવી હતી, કારણ કે તે ઉત્તર ગોળાર્ધમાં વર્ષનો સૌથી લાંબો દિવસ છે અને વિશ્વના ઘણા ભાગોમાં તેનું વિશેષ મહત્વ છે.
