On my flight back from Brisbane to Hyderabad via Singapore after my conference a few weeks ago, a very interesting incident occured.
It was night-time and just as I was preparing to sleep, there was an announcement on the flight asking if there was a doctor onboard. I responded and the air steward took me to a seat at the back of the flight. An elderly Australian man was gasping for breath and was very drowsy and non-responsive to commands. For the next one hour, myself along with the help of a nurse practitioner (who was also a passenger onboard), stayed by his side and with the limited resources that we had, managed to keep him safe and alive.
It was, of course, my duty to help out a fellow passenger and I'm glad that we managed to keep him going until the flight landed but I was very pleasantly surprised to see this email a week later in my inbox.
It feels good to have this kind of appreciation when we put our foot forward to help our fellow human beings.
