On the occasion of Prohibition Week, observed in memory of the Father of the Nation's death anniversary, DACRC Sonitpur organized a seminar program today at Knowledge Path Academy. The session aimed to educate students about addiction and its harmful effects.

DACRC Sonitpur, in collaboration with Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Tezpur and Gogra Tea Estate, Haleshwar, Sonitpur today. The event saw active participation and cooperation from the local community. District Social Welfare Officer,Sonitpur, Sri Bidyut Hazarika, along with his team was also present in the meeting today.
Padma kanta Bakti , president of Primary Group ACMS,Tezpore and Gogra Tea-Estate helped us a lot with the organizing and informing locals about the meeting today. He also contributed his thoughts through a speech about the current situation on alcohol abuse in different tea gardens.
ASHA and Anganwadi workers also attended, contributing their perspectives to the discussions.

This was the first awareness meeting on drug abuse held in thst tea estate, and the local residents expressed their gratitude and eagerness to learn about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. In addition to the meeting, we organized a rally that included students carrying placards prepared by DACRC Sonitpur. Due to the extreme heat, the rally was kept short. Leaflets regarding information about DACRC Sonitpur was distributed among them.

Overall, the program was a success.

On 30th June 2023 District Child Protection Unit, Sonitpur collaborated with DACRC, Sonitpur for the 90 days awareness campaign on Child Protection, 'Suroxito xaishab, Xunali Axom'. Supported by State Child Protection society, Department of Women and Child development, Assam, at Sri Sri Sankardev High School, Harupatgaon, Balipara, Sonitpur.
Topics like POCSO act, child marriage, child trafficking and substance abuse and it's harmful effect on children were the main points of the awareness meeting yesterday. The key speakers were the Legal cm Probation Officer, District Child Protection Unit, and Psychologist, DACRC Sonitpur.
