What Next Stuations in Ophthalmology - CME under the aegis of Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons The CME held at Hotel Benale International, Kannur was inaugurated by Honorable Minister Sri Ramachandran Kadannappally. OSK secretary Dr Remya Edachery delivered the welcome address and OSK president Dr Suchithra Bhat delivered the vote of thanks, The CME was well attended and had delegates from neighboring districts - Kasargod, Kozhikode and Malappuram also . The feedback for the new format with just a few keynote addresses and the rest being panel discussions on different scenarios have been great.

What Next Stuations in Ophthalmology - CME under the aegis of Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons will be held today (20/10/2024) at Hotel Benale International Kannur. We have an exciting program lined up There will be multiple sessions on ditterent topics -Retina,Ocular and Peri Ocular aesthetic procedures,Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma.In addition there will be sessions on life challenges
The meeting will be inaugurated at 10.00 AM by Shri Ramachandran Kadannappalli, Minister for Registration, Museums, Archaeology and Archives Kerala State . The minister will also release a book on financial planning for Medical Practitioners being published by Kerala society of ophthalmic surgeons

It was great to see this photo of the Strategic Planning Workshop for Enhancing Low Vision Services in Kerala held at laíco as the concluding slide of the presentation by Dr Sahithya Bhaskaran who heads the vision rehabilitation services of Aravind Eye Hospital Madurai at the Annual Conference of Andra Pradesh Ophthalmological Society at Thiruppathi. She said that Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons is the only Association of Ophthalmologists in India , possibly in the world with a vision rehabilitation program .Thank you Leila ma’am, JP sir and Dr Anup for the highly appreciated work. Since it was a project that I initiated as the General Secretary of Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons with full fledged support from my presidents Dr Sasikumar and Dr Radha Ramanan I was given the honor of felicitating the speakers of the session . Felt great to be a member of such a wonderful organization.

Free Eye Check Up and treatment Camp for those who were rendered destitute by flood and landslide of Vilangad was conducted on 22nd and 23 rd of August 2024 at the St George Church Parish Hall, Vilangad . The camp was organized by Comtrust Charitable Trust Eye Hospitals, All India Ophthalmological Society and Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons . The camp was lead by Dr Sreeni Edakhlon, Management Committee member of
All India Ophthalmological Society and Chief Surgeon and Medical Director of Charitable Trust Eye Hospital, Thalassery. The camp was inaugurated by Nadapuram MLA E.K. Vijayan. Nearly 600 patients were examined and treated. They will be provided Free Spectacles . Survivors of the landslide who have lost houses and livelihood will be provided free consultation and all eye treatments including surgery for a period of One Year at Charitable Trust Eye Hospitals Free Eye Check Up and treatment Camps were conducted at Meppadi at Government Higher secondary school meppadi on 20th of August 2024 and at St. Joseph's High School, Meppadi on 21st of August 2024

Could hold very productive meetings with Shafi Parambil Member of Parliament and Reverend Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplani to plan AIOS KSOS eye camps and relief activities. Thank you my dear friend Navas for arranging the meetings. We will be conducting our first camp on Thursday- August 22nd along with Comtrust Charitable Trust Eye Hospitals. We will be providing all eye treatments including surgeries free for those rendered destitute by the landslide free for 1 year

**Let us join together to Support those who are rendered destitute as a result of Wayanad Landslide **

The devastation caused by the landslide has left many families in urgent need of support to rebuild their lives.

The Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons (KSOS) with the support of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) is launching a significant project aimed at assisting the victims of the landslide.

**KSOS intends to undertake the following activities:**

1. **Distribution of Free Spectacles** Members of KSOS will be conducting free eye camps in the affected areas. We plan to give free spectacles to more than 3,000 individuals who lost spectacles during the disaster.
2. **Rebuilding Classrooms** in schools that were destroyed by the landslide, helping to restore education in the affected areas.
3. **Financial Assistance and Sponsorship** for children who were orphaned by this tragedy, to ensure they have the resources needed for a secure future.

We expect a total expenditure of more than Rs 50 lakhs. KSOS has earmarked Rs 10 lakh from its own account as the seed fund for this and will allocate more funds if needed in the future

Really impressed by the way in which Dr Amar Agarwal organizes IIRSI Chennai. He is already ready with the international faculty for IIRSI Chennai 2025 which is one year away. IIRSI Chennai 2024 was my first ever IIRSI Chennai. Was really astonished by the attendance- More than 4000 registered delegates. Extremely informative talks and sessions. Dr Amar has already started preparing scientific sessions for IIRSI Chennai 2025

With great grief, informing the sad demise of our beloved Dr VO Mohan Babu sir . Sir was diagnosed to have Ca hilum of lung 1 year back. Took oral chemo for 5 to 6 months. There was not much relief. He loved to work and was attending hospital till afternoon till June 1st week.Was on immunotherapy till last week.
Sir was one of the senior most ophthalmologists in Kerala and also one of the tallest leaders of Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons He was a mentor and a father figure to all of us. Will miss him deeply. 🙏🙏
