Healthy and happy mealtimes are more than just about the food on the plate—they’re also about the environment and the experiences surrounding the meal. Ensuring that a baby eats everything can be challenging, but with patience and some strategies, you can encourage healthy eating habits.
Here’s what a healthy and happy mealtime typically looks like:

šŸ„—Mindful Eating : Savoring Food: Everyone is encouraged to taste and savor their food, rather than rushing through the meal. This promotes better digestion and a greater appreciation for the food.

šŸ„—Introduce a Variety Early On: Offer a wide range of flavors and textures early in the weaning process. This helps babies become accustomed to different tastes and reduces the likelihood of them becoming picky eaters.

šŸ„—Be Patient with New Foods: It may take multiple attempts (sometimes 15-21 times) before a baby accepts a new food. Keep offering it without pressure.

āž•Positive Reinforcement: Praise and Encouragement: Positive behaviors at the table are noticed and praised, creating a warm and encouraging environment. Show enthusiasm for the food yourself.

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘¦Lead by Example: Babies are more likely to try foods if they see you eating and enjoying them. Make family meals a regular part of your routine.

šŸ½ļøOffer Small Portions: Start with small portions to avoid overwhelming your baby. You can always offer more if they finish and seem interested in eating more.

šŸŒGet Creative: If your baby resists certain foods, try preparing them differently. Sometimes a different texture or flavor pairing can make a food more appealing.

🌈Adjusting to needs : Mealtimes are flexible to accommodate different needs and preferences. If someone isn’t hungry or isn’t in the mood for a certain food, it’s okay to adjust.

Healthy and happy mealtimes are all about creating an environment where everyone feels relaxed, respected, and nourished, both physically and emotionally. These practices help establish a lifelong positive relationship with food.

Am I breastfeeding well ā‰ļøā‰ļø
This is a very common question. Especially when you first start breastfeeding or if you are a first time parent.

It’s impossible to tell you how much milk your baby is drinking.
Every baby is different and they feed at different rates.

Some will be full in 10 minutes and others may take 30 minutes.

As a mother, we always keep doubting as to whether I am breastfeeding well or is there something else I have to look for.
ā€œI am breastfeeding wellā€: This phrase emphasizes the mother’s experience and her ability to breastfeed successfully. It might refer to her comfort, milk supply, latch technique, and overall ease in breastfeeding.
There are signs to look out for which can reassure you all is well.Ā
If these aspects are met : You will be emotionally at ease with breastfeeding, feeling positive and supported in your breastfeeding journey.

How should I Pump ??
Remember these are general settings and guidelines.
You can absolutely tweak this as needed.

Preparation involves washing your hands thoroughly and ensure that all pump parts are clean and assembled correctly. Find a comfortable place to sit , relax and make sure you have everything you need within reach.

After the Pumping Session is done, carefully pour the expressed milk into storage containers or bags, label them with the date and time, and store them in the refrigerator or freezer as needed.
Disassemble the pump parts and clean them thoroughly, either by hand or in a dishwasher, if they are dishwasher safe.

Trust me this is a research plus experience based method and will get you the MOST milk in the shortest time.
Plus when you ensure you are draining well you will naturally boost supply!

Do note : there are often situations that are out of our control that may impact our ability to produce milk. Some people simply don’t respond well to pumping and have a hard time letting down to a mechanical baby substitute. Sometimes, we have childcare situations where the amount of milk fed to our babies in a day is a mismatch for the amount of milk we can collect, and no amount of pumping can change that. Sometimes, we have jobs that don’t allow us the flexibility to be able to pump as often as we would like.

Sometimes, we internalize these challenges and equate the amount of milk we can provide to our value as a parent, and that is a lie. You are worth more than the milk you provide. No matter how much or little that is, you are enough.
