Have you undergone a knee replacement?
Post-Total Knee Replacement (TKR) rehabilitation is vital for regaining strength, mobility, and reducing stiffness. Below are key exercises to include in your daily routine to support your recovery:
- Quad Sets: Tighten thigh muscles by pressing the back of your knee down, hold for 5-10 seconds.
- Straight Leg Raises: Lift your straight leg about 12 inches, hold for 5 seconds, then slowly lower.
- Heel Slides: Slide your heel toward your buttocks while lying down, bend the knee as far as comfortable, then straighten.
- Ankle Pumps: Flex and point your toes to improve circulation and reduce swelling.
- Short Arc Quads: Lie with a rolled towel under your knee and straighten your leg, hold briefly, then relax.
- Stationary Cycling: Gentle cycling 5-10 minutes daily to enhance cardiovascular health and joint mobility.
Perform each exercise 10-15 repetitions, 2-3 times daily as recommended. Consistency in these exercises helps improve knee function and speeds up recovery.
