A Friend in Covid-19, is a Friend Indeed...

I got infected with the dreaded virus a few days back, and am already on the way to a full recovery. While family and friends stood by me in these difficult times, so did one person whom I previously viewed as just a commercial relation - my local chemist Sunil Dalvi.

Sunil provided exemplary service during the trying times, sending medicines to my apartment even twice a day. Without being paid a penny in advance. Without even indirectly reminding me that a significant bill was pending. Much on the contrary, when I offered to settle the bill using my card, he cited our relations over the last decade or so, and said he'd happily wait till such time I'm fit and fine.

Not with just the meds, he helped me out with the contact details of home X-ray services, inexpensive pathological labs, CT scan centres, an ambulance, the works — without any commercial interest in these services. This is truly selfless, exemplary service!

A lot is being written about the potential of e-pharmacies. But after this pleasant experience, I doubt an e-pharmacy can match the service levels and personal attention provided by a brick and mortar chemist. And yes, Sunil does give me a handsome discount on the meds.
